Friday the 13th we had a regularly scheduled doctor's appointment at 11AM and had already had an induction scheduled for Wednesday the 18th. The morning of the doctor's appointment I had been having consistent contractions every 3-5 minutes, but they weren't painful so we didn't go to the hospital, just went to the appointment. Doc sent us to the hospital to be monitored after checking me to find that I was still 4cm about 90%. Hospital monitored the regular contractions for a few hours and then (since they still weren't painful) doc decided to break my water to get things going, and said we may need to augment with pitocin.
As soon as he broke my water (DH came back into the room from getting the bag from the car, my mom was there with me) I had a monster of a contraction and the baby's heart rate dropped FAST... the cord had come out (prolapsed) and his head was pressing on it, completely cutting off his oxygen and everything. The nurses freaked! One climbed into bed with me and held his head off the cord and the others were screaming through the hallway "Prolapse cord!!! Get the NICU to the OR NOW!" Luckily my doctor was still there and calmly told me what had happened and apologized that I had to have a c-section... right now. They immediately took me to the operating room for an emergency c-section and all in all, Doc had the baby out 8 minutes after he had broken my water.
Since I hadn't had an epidural (and there was no time once the cord came out) I was put under general anesthetic and doc used a "classical" (vertical) incision. Surprisingly, baby Kellan came out at 138pm as healthy as any normal baby with no signs of the stress that he endured for the 8 minutes between water breaking and him being pulled out
6 lbs 7 oz, 20.5 inches long and scored 9 on the apgar scale immediately after birth. I didn't wake up from the anesthesia until about 6pm and got to see DH (who my mom had kept calm while I was in surgery), my mom, my dad (who my mom had called to come keep her calm because she was internally freaking out), and DH's parents (who he had called in). I finally got to see little Kellan Robert about 7 and my memory of that evening is very sketchy though I started to remember more about the surgery after getting home (lots of screaming... made me feel very bad for DH). In another surprise twist, Kellan took to breast feeding very well and we haven't had to supplement with formula since we left the hospital. He was in the NICU for less than a day for low sugar, but after the IV glucose he tested normal for the next 12 hours.
Since his b-day we got his results from a panel of blood tests they run on babies and his thyroid is completely inactive (hypothroidism) So this past Wednesday we started him on medication, which he takes fairly well mixed with breast milk out of a syringe, and we go for follow up levels next Wednesday.View Thread

Thank you everyone for all of the warm wishes
Everything is still going well. We just had Kellan's blood tested to make sure the med levels were correct and they were a little high so we start on a lower dose tomorrow, but other than that he is a normal little baby... sleeping all day and fussy all night lol The incision from the c-section is healing fairly well too... we've had a couple bumps in the road with that, but Doc says that is to be expected with a vertical incision... I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! It is a lot better now though, DH was making jokes the other night about having another baby... "you were only REALLY miserable and immobile for the first week and a half... we could do this again..." I'm still not on board with that idea lolView Thread

Both times I had dizzieness, nausea, even fainting all day long after the test
Eating right afterward helped a little, but you're not alone!View Thread
I saw doc yesterday and he literally checked the heartbeat with the dopplar, measured my belly (still running "big"), and said see you next week. After some prodding from DH and I he finally said that he doesn't want to induce before 39 weeks. This frustrates me for 2 reasons. First the office is going by my original due date of 4/25 while ultrasounds have shown a perfectly developmentally normal baby due 4/15, so by the ultrasound date I am 38 weeks, by docs count about 36. Second, doc has already expressed concern that the baby will be "so big" that he will want to take him via c-section and not even attempt labor and delivery.
As if waiting for something definitive to happen isn't stressful enough (since the "hurry up" stakes are so high considering dilation and effacement per Friday evening - yep, doc didn't even check yesterday), now I'm worried that doc is going to let me go so far that he will force me into a c-section because I'll be 41 weeks via the method that can actually see how the baby is developing and measuring rather than when I got my last period!!
To top it all off I am having contractions what seems like all the time and though they are uncomfortable, they aren't painful enough to warrant a hospital trip. Last night I timed my "uncomfortable" contractions for over an hour and a half and they were steadily 2-3 minutes apart and then disappeared. I had very painful contractions throughout the day at work today, but they were all at least an hour apart.
I am just so frustrated!! Thanks for reading my rant, any comments are greatly appreciated

SO after 12 hours at the hospital they sent me back home last night to wait for contractions to start back up or my water to break! The nurse told me straight out when I was discharged that if my actual doc would have been calling the shots I would have been on pitocin to regulate the contractions after the first round of walking and monitoring... she said she could feel my bag of water bulging and I swear she was trying to break my water the last 2 times she checked me to force sub doc's hand LOL
We have an appointment with my regular doc on Monday so hopefully he will have some more definitive answers for us but from everything I've read, women don't go for more than a few days without their mucous plug... anyone heard differently? I feel like a ticking time bomb this morning! I feel so guilty because when we found out we were 4cm we thought there was no going back so we told everyone he was coming! My husband took his vacation from work and now he is debating whether or not to go in on Sunday night because that means leaving me alone for like 18 hours overnight... I don't know what to tell him!
I keep thinking everything is a contraction and I am ready to do jumping jacks to get this show on the road!! The funniest part is that I was in no pain the whole time at the hospital so the nurse told me that I have a high pain tolerence (woohoo!) so when I do feel pain not to dilly dally around, get right in because I'm already walking around almost halfway to fully dilated!View Thread

Rooni, I have absolutely no problem sharing! If you have any more ?'s don't hesitate to ask! Doc tested me early because I have PCOS accompanied by high insulin. I never had problems with my sugar, just the high insulin plus I was also overweight so all of those things combined made him decide to test me early. I went for 2 1-hr GTT's and both were high so he had me meet with a dietician and get a meter so I do the finger sticks also. I was also on Metformin while TTC and he wanted me to continue that through the pregnancy and though it sounds awful... I haven't been taking it
It makes me SOOOO sick all day long every day and I just can't tolerate it. But I do keep tabs via the meter and watch what I eat, espeially after our due date got moved up 10 days because baby boy was growing so big so fast... I'm behaving much better with my sugar intake now
