We thought we only wanted one to begin with. It took injectibles to get pregnant, she had a vanishing twin, then I was so sick the whole time I lost 12 pounds and held there even as my belly grew...though it never got very big. Add all the complications with the delivery and it would be horribly selfish to try again knowing it could all happen again and I wouldn't be able to care for our little princess and she could possibly lose me. We've discussed that if we really feel the need for another in a few years we'll talk about adoption. For now we're just thrilled to have our little girl and enjoying every minute. She has everyone wrapped around her little finger.View Thread

My bosses let me take 16 weeks off because of the preemie delivery and all my complications. I was grateful because I'd been off 10 weeks when she came home from the nicu and couldn't imagine going back to work 2 weeks later. I'm working 2 days a week now and found a licensed in-home daycare that was willing to keep her 2 days knowing I'll go back to full time later. My boss agreed to 6-12 months part time, so later this year I think I'll add one day a week every few months until I'm FT again. The woman keeping her is already so in love with her she told me I could go back to full time anytime I want. I think it's a nice balance giving me more time at home with my baby I worked so hard for, but also bringing in money, using my hard earned education, and getting some adult time. We had worked hard to straighten out our finances before we started TTC, not knowing it would be so difficult. We could scrape by with me not working, but it would be painful so PT will work for a while and we've been able to build a healthy savings account to fall back on if we need to. It's a hard decision to find what will work for you.
We were able to get mostly hand-me-down baby gear so that saved a ton of money and people keep giving us clothes and other items. Diapers are our biggest expense now and I'm shopping sales and using coupons. DH is grossed out by cloth or I'd consider that. Since she was a preemie I had to start pumping and she's never done well breastfeeding so I keep pumping. We're fortifying my milk with formula, but it's very little so a can lasts 3 weeks. I added up and it would cost us about $30 a week if she was all formula, partially because the preemie formula is extra expensive. I keep reminding myself of this as I get tired of pumping. Breastmilk is better for her anyway, but pumping is a such a pain! I figure since I'm not earning as much I can put some extra effort into saving money where I can.View Thread

My bosses were awesome and let me have an extra month off work and come back part time. I just started back 2 weeks ago 2 days a week and found a good licensed in-home daycare for her. The woman keeping her is already in love with her and told me I could go back to work full time anytime I want.
She's such a happy easy baby, just miniature (8 pounds at 4 months). I will eventually, but for now my boss has agreed to 6-12 months of this schedule, then we'll reevaluate and I'll probably add a day every few months until I'm full time again. It's so nice to have the extra time with my little angel for now and kiss these chubby little cheeks that didn't used to be chubby at all.

I have to laugh at your type-o. The dollar coaster of infertility is also true.

We've decided my body isn't made to make babies and we aren't going to have another, but we are thrilled to have our sweet tiny baby girl. She's doing awesome and yesterday's nurse kept calling her a rock star because she's doing so much better than they'd expect for her size. We were able to start kangaroo care last night and that was amazing!View Thread

Also, how long did you wear a belly binder? They gave me one and it needs washed, but without it I feel like my insides are going to fall out. I don't feel like I can go without it to let it hang to dry so we're debating getting a second but hate to waste money.
Last night we went to visit and they decided to leave off her cpap to see how she does. I got to take her temperature and change her diaper, then my hubby got to lift her to help weigh her and change her bedding. It was so exciting to do something other than stare at her and to see her face without the cpap and her eyes open.View Thread
