Hi everyone! We went to our 18 week appointment yesterday, and they did the ultrasound. They took all the measurements, and confirmed my due date (Feb. 3rd). And after weeks of debating, do we find out or have a surprise.... we found we are having...
DH is very happy, and we are both very excited, as we had hoped and prayed for a boy. I don't think DD quite understands she will be sharing the spotlight soon, though LOL
The NP seemed pleased with his measurements, and weight. The only thing she pointed out was a small calcium spot on his heart. She explained that this used to be a 'soft' marker for Down's Syndrome, and really stressed the "USED to be". She acted like it was nothing to be concerned about, but told us we could do an extra screening if we wanted (we skipped the 1st tri screening with DD, and with this one). According to her, 9 out of 10 sono's that she see's with it, turn out to be nothing. I am slightly reassured by her lack of concern for it, but I am worrying now. I have worried and had a bad feeling in my gut ever since finding out we were pg, that something either would happen or had already happened, like a genetic issue. I want this baby boy to be healthy so badly, and have been praying for a good outcome. Has anyone else had a child diagnosed with this, in utero, and how much should I worry?View Thread
First of all ((Hugs)) and sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you can find some guidance and friendship here, among friends who've "been there"
and to your question... yes! I did with this pregnancy (my 3rd). I was bragging to my husband around 5 weeks that I had no m/s or anything (I had many symptoms with DD)... and then about 6-7 weeks, it hit and was terrible LOL I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry too much; lots of ladies don't have obvious symptoms. Schedule an appointment with your OB to be sure and get checked out. Good luck!View Thread
Aww that is so sweet, he loves his little sis! Addison is obsessed with brushing her teeth, too (must be a two year-old thing LOL). Aubrey will be teething before you know it! So glad to hear how she is growing and getting stronger now
I went to number 2 of 2 doctor visits yesterday and came home with much better news. I met the NP who I will see about half of the time throughout this pg, and she is fantastic. As soon as she walked in with the doplar scanner, I was excited and terrified in the same breath... and then she found the heartbeat!!! A strong 167, and then she had to chase baby down after he/she moved away lol. The NP seemed happy with everything she saw and heard, so we go back in 4 weeks! Looking at EDD of 2/3/15View Thread
They took my vitals, but nothing for the baby, so not much to report. I did have to drink the lovely glucose cocktail There was a small 'victory' for me during this visit: I didn't pass out when they drew the blood, and they had to stick me TWICE! Anyone who knows my history with blood draw, knows that is a huge step forward!
I did get to meet with a very nice nurse who took my medical information, history, and addressed some of my concerns for this pregnancy. However, I did not get to hear the baby's heartbeat via doplar... which was really disappointing. I do go back to meet with the NP on Tuesday, and she said I would hear it then. At my previous clinic, they did the health information, glucose screening, took my blood, and did a physical all at the first visit. This new medical center is supposed to be one of the best in the country, and they split it into two visits?
So keeping my fingers crossed until next week... Thanks for the prayers ladies!View Thread
My first prenatal visit is tomorrow, and I am so danged nervous!!! I'm still having the m/s (all-day sickness), but my stomach is in nervous knots
DH's company changed their health insurance in January, so I have a different doctor, nurses, clinic, AND hospital from before (which stinks, because I REALLY liked my previous ones). I think this is contributing to my nerves, plus I am going alone, most likely a bad idea My pregnancy with DD was mostly easy compared to a lot of others, yet my mind still keeps envisioning the worst case scenario. I'm literally shaking...
Sorry for the vent, DH is tired of listening to me worry View Thread
TRIGGS: I've never had a D&C before, but when I experienced my miscarriage, it started out as just light spotting. The next morning (and after an internal sonogram, that I think aggravated it) the amount was much heavier; but everyone is different. Perhaps having a D&C makes the passing take a bit longer (as opposed to a spontaneous m/c)? I would check with your OB or a physician you trust, just to make sure. You might also check into the coping with pregnancy loss board, there are some knowledgeable, friendly ladies there as well that might have an answer for you. Good luckView Thread
Thanks everybody! I'm getting more excited as we go, just still very cautious (apparently experiencing a loss makes a person paranoid for ever ). I am so glad to see you girls still here and/or lurking, I've missed you all!
An update: last weekend, the morning sickness progressed to these horrible stomach cramps (not lower, like m/c or menstrual). Doctor gave me prescription yesterday that is -so far- working like a charm View Thread
