I also have type 2 diabetes and my baby didn't have any birth defects and he is a very healthy 4 week old.
You'll probably get more ultrasounds and your doctor will watch the growth of your child more. And you probably won't go full term. I went into labor at 37 weeks.
There are more risks to you and your baby since you are diabetic but try not to worry because stress can make your blood sugars go higher which can cause more problems. Just relax and and try not to worry, i'm sure your little one will be fine.View Thread
Yes it is safe to use your inhalers/nebulizer during pregnancy. I also have asthma and have been told that it's fine. I was told not to stop because if I can't breathe then baby can't breathe so don't stop using your asthma medication.View Thread
I'm not sure if gas-x is safe to take. Best thing to do is to make sure your wife drinks plenty of water/fluids. Unfortunately gas and bloating are wonderful pregnancy symptoms that aren't likely to just go away. I find that yogurt helps me out when i'm overly bloated or constipated. The probiotics in yogurt help with digestion so it's worth a try.
Sorry to hear about the threatened miscarriage. Hope all works out for you and your wife and you'll have a happy and healthy baby.View Thread
It's most likely how far along you are. They always go off your last mentral cycle which is actually about 2 weeks before conception. That would be the reason for the age of the fetus and how far along you really are.
You probably aren't 17 weeks but only 14 weeks. It's possible you ovulated later than you thought. If you have any questions about the gestational age of your baby, talk to your doctor. He/she can give you better answers.View Thread
You don't want to lose too much weight while pregnant. If you are already thin then you shouldn't be losing any weight. If you are concidered overweight, you still need to be careful.
I am not obese but I do weigh more than I should. I lost weight by going to the pool everyday. I would have to say that is one of the best ways to lose weight because it's not as hard on your joints as an aerobic class would be because it gets the extra weight off your joints and it also helps with the swelling in your feet and legs.
Talk to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Your doc would know the best and safest way to lose weight if you need to.View Thread
What really helps me when I get "backed up" is eating yogurt, i've also found that eating foods with extra fiber or taking extra fiber also helps. Metamusil (sp) has a free and clear that is pretty good and it doesn't have any warnings about pregnant women talking with their doctor first before taking.View Thread
