You are probably just fine. A lot of women have light spotting like that in their first trimester. Early in pregnancy, your cervix is sensitive and things like sex or a pap can cause spotting. Mild cramping is just a part of early pregnancy, too. Your uterus is growing, which causes some cramping. If your cramping becomes severe and/or you start bleeding more heavily with clotting, go to the ER. But from what you described, it all sounds very normal. And congrats, btw!View Thread

Phew! Glad it's not just me! I was starting to feel like freak. It's really weird to me to be showing this early since it was sooooooo much later with my first. I'm just worried that by the time June rolls around, I will look like I'm 12 mos pg with triplets.

Hi Kat,
First of all, congratulations! I'm sorry to hear about your family situation. It must be so hard to go through this without them. If you feel like the nausea is keeping you from getting the nutrition you need, talk to your dr about Zofran. It's medicine they can give you to ease the nausea. It has helped several of my friends. I didn't have any luck with it, but that was bc I was throwing up everything I ate. The Navy dr gave me tablets, which was stupid. They do have Zofran in a sublingual, so you just put it under your tongue instead of swallowing it. I'm not as sick this time around and I've found that peppermint drops that contain real peppermint oil help a bit. They are candy, so maybe that would help with you ow blood sugar, too.
I hope you feel better soon! Most people do arund the start of the second trimester. Take care!

It's possible that you got pregnant later than you think. You may have ovulated later than usual. I used an ovulation prediction kit and I know I ovulated a week later than my last period would suggest. On top of that, knowing when I ovulated and when I would have had to have conceived, my first u/s set my due date at 4 days later than it was when dated by ovulation. So all in all, I am 11 days behind when my LMP would say I am due. I wonder if this might be the case with you, too based on the neg test a week after your missed period and then a 5 a week after that. A 5 makes me think (in my non-professional opinion) that your baby may have implanted only a few hours before your test. From everything I've read (which is a lot, I am an over reader), you conceive roughly 6 days before implantation and your body starts producing HCG at implantation. So it sounds at least possible, if not probable, that you just ovulated late. I am sure you are terrified after your experience with your first baby, but try not to worry too much. When do you go back for another ultrasound? Keep me posted. I'll be praying for you!View Thread

Does anyone else feel like you might be getting a bump already? I'm just about 10 weeks and I'm noticing a little growth is the kangaroo pouch I always have (coutesy of genetics). It seems fuller on the bottom than normal. I didn't really ave anything going on with my stomach until about 17 weeks with my daughter, so this seems pretty nuts to me. My smaller jeans are getting slightly snug even tho I've lost a pound. Luckily, my fat jeans from when I was 13 pounds heavier in the spring should last me a while. Just has me wondering how big I will be by the time this baby comes. Anyone else growing already?View Thread

I agree with previous post. No clotting or cramping is a good sign, but with that much bleeding, you should check on your baby. At the ER, they can check the baby with an ultrasound, make sure everything is ok, and if you need a cerclage (sp?), progesterone, or bed rest to make sure your baby stays healthy. Take care!View Thread

Hey Carissa, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time! You may be getting light headed bc you could be anemic. I have had similar problems (although I have not actually fainted) and I am slightly anemic. Try amping up your iron intake and see if that helps. Spinach and beef are great sources of iron. I also started eating Luna bars, which have added iron, vitamin D, calcium, and folic acid. All good stuff for the baby. Are you taking prenatals?
The nausea, unfortunately, is super normal. It goes away for a lot of people around the time the second trimester rolls in, so there may be an end in sight.
Is there a church in your town that you could get involved in? A lot of churches have small groups of people that meet outside of church and become a lot closer. That may be a good place to meet people who would walk through this though time with you. I have made very close friends in church small groups. It does wonders to know that people care about you and are praying for you. Would someone in your family be able to come visit you for a pick-me-up? Or do you have one friend that you could ask go shopping with you? Getting a fun baby item may help you to be a little more excited.
I am also 9 weeks, so I am right there with you. I am due June 26. Keep me posted on how you're doing. I also started a group for June 2013 Moms, so if you'd want to check that out, there are a few of us who are around the same time together. Take care of yourself!View Thread

With my first pregnancy, we told our families at about 6 weeks, but no one else. I had known someone that had told the whole world the minute she found out, then miscarried and for over a month had people asking her about a baby that was gone. I did not want that to happen to me. I did end up having a miscarriage that first time and having my mom to talk to made a big difference for me, but it was hard for my family, too. Some people from my husband's work knew bc one woman he worked with saw us at the dr's office and blabbed to everyone. It was worse for my husband bc he had to tell people. One guy did congratulate me at one of their work events while I was still bleeding and I just pretended like I didn't know what he was talking about. My husband cleared that up later, but I just couldn't talk about it. That incident confirmed my belief in waiting to tell people,
When I got pregnant with my daughter, we waited until 10 weeks. This time, we are waiting until 11 (the extra week is to make it coincide with my grandfather's birthday). I don't mean to be a naysayer. Odds are always better that things with the baby will be fine. But I am terrified of having to tell the world about a miscarriage. The one incident I had was terrible. I think it's worth a few weeks' wait.View Thread

At 10 weeks, you probably wouldn't be getting any kind of belly yet, so no worries there. Symptoms can change from day to day, too. If you don't have a new doctor yet, you can go to the ER for an ultrasound. They can check for fetal growth and a heartbeat. This should let you know for sure what is going on. Have you had any bleeding or severe cramping? You would usually experience those two things if you were having a problem. I hope everything turns out just fine.View Thread
