I'm new to this board, but was hoping to find someone who has had cholestasis of pregnancy in prior pregnancies (that sounds awful, I wish no one to be sick during their pregnancy!). This is my 3rd and VERY new pregnancy (I'm only about 4-5 weeks), but I had Cholestasis during my 2nd pregnancy 5 years ago and I'm very afraid that I'll have it again and worse. Last time I started having some symptoms at about 25-30 weeks, but the doctors just blamed them on other things. Then at 35 weeks I had the all-over itching and I was finally induced at exactly 36 weeks. I did speak with a perinatal doctor a few years back and he said that usually the 2nd time around Cholestasis comes on earlier and you might require bedrest. And of course there's the high risk of still-birth.
Have any of you had Cholestasis in prior pregnancies? Did you get it again? If so how did your pregnancy go or how is it going?
Thanks so much!View Thread

during my last pregnancy, four years ago, i was diagnosed with cholestasis of pregnancy. i was induced four weeks early and my son was perfectly fine. now my dh and i are trying to get pregnant again and i was wondering if any of you had this condition in prior pregnancies and if so have you had any issues again.

Did you have problems with your gallbladder? They said I was having an atypical case of Cholestasis because I didn't have any other issues associated with it. At first they thought it was HELP.
I did see a high risk OB after my pregnancy to see what they would say about getting pregnant again. I was advised that now I would be at higher risk for having it again, but that the risk was just a little higher than those who never had it. I was also told that the biggest complication is a still-birth. I'm just scared of having to be put on bed-rest early on or having to be induced too early in the pregnancy.
Thanks for your help!View Thread
