I am a little under 350lbs, married, and ready to have kids. My doctor, however, is encouraging me to go on birth control, even though I'm against it. He is giving me a month to think about what I "really" want to do. I'm concerned about not being able to get pregnant, and if I do get pregnant the complications that can occur. I bought a book that talks about pregnancy and it says that underweight women have more issues concieving, while overweight women have higher risks for complications. I don't want to weight to lose 200lbs to have a kid, but I am considering trying to lose some weight before having a baby. I am changing my lifestyle a bit. I am choosing to eat healthier, getting some form of exercise at least 30 mins a day to at least 3 days a week, and taking some time out for me to destress. I'm already planning on telling my dr no to his birth control plan (miranda, which would be inserted for 3-5 yrs) and possible taking the pill IF I decided to use bith control, which is highly unlikely. It's something my husband and I are discussing right. Any hoo, I don't think you're being selfish at all. Women were made to have children. That is God's plan for us. As long as you are able to care for the child and love the child then you're being far from selfish.View Thread
