Around 11 weeks or so I noticed very weird pains on my sides. It happened when I moved abruptly or stretched a few times a week. I mentioned it to my doctor at my 16 week appointment last week and he explained to me that what I am experiencing is called round ligament pains. And explained to me how it happens, some may confuse this as cramps or even BH contractions, so I thought I'd look it up and share it with you all. He also told me that it would get worse =(
Pregnancy, Round Ligament Pain CausesRound ligament pain refers to a type of pelvic pain caused by stretching of the round ligaments. This occurs more commonly on the right side of the pelvis.
Your uterus is normally the size of a pear. Thick ligaments, one of which is called the round ligament, hold your uterus in suspension within your abdomen. As the uterus grows in size and weight , these ligaments become very long and thin, stressing and tensing like rubber bands.
The ligaments pull and tug on nearby nerve fibers and sensitive structures, causing pain. The severity of pain can worry you. Although round ligament pain is uncomfortable, it is also very normal.
A ligament spasm, an involuntary contraction or cramp, usually triggers a sharp pain. These spasms are found more frequently on the right side than the left because of the normal tendency of the uterus to turn to the right.
You might awaken at night with pain after having suddenly rolled over in your sleep .
I'm actually enjoying and love looking down and seeing my stomach jump. My daughter felt her kick the other day and she was SO happy, it was the funniest thing. But when I bragged about it, I got a lot of "WELL you better enjoy it now because its gonna get worse" "its gonna be uncomfortable" "yada yada yada" thanks a lot Pessimists
Do you ladies feel kicks and punches on a regular? And are they uncomfortable for you yet?View Thread
Its been a long time since I've logged in. I hope all of you ladies had a joyous Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to come. I had my monthly check up today and baby and I are doing just fine. But why does my doctors office have the wrong due date down STILL? The nurse told me I was 26 weeks and some odd days, and I told her NO according to my ultrasound from the Perinatologist office Im at 27w5d. Anywho, then they want me to come back for my Rhogam (sp?) shot next week, I was suppose to get it done today but they forgot to give me the prescription for it at my last appointment. This is why I hate the fact that we have to see all of the doctors in the practice, there is always something that gets screwed up. Have any of you had to go out to the pharmacy to pick up the seringe and medicine for your own shot? I was shocked, wondered why they didn't have this in the office. Needless-to-say, I will also be moving up it was so nice chatting with you all, will definitely see you soon in the 3rd Tri...well some of you View Thread
Thanks camnfaithsmom see ya soon! I thought it was weird too, why cant they order it and charge it to my insurance? Or send me to someone that has it, so that I dont have to pay out of pocket... but hey, Im going to do what they tell me to View Thread
My confession is we are in the same boat. I take care of my urges myself when he's away, but when he's around I totally act uninterested. Because I AM.. its just too uncomfortable. The last time we tried, he just gave up because I complained too much. And this is totally not normal for me, so I hope it gives, sooner than later. I feel so bad and am happy that he "understands" and doesnt really pressure me.
When I switched doctors it was only for my last appointment in which was the 2nd time I had to go in due to fissures. So even after my post ops for a few months I still had to go back, I switched to another doctor in the same practice and he was MUCH better than she was, I was actually recommended by my original doctors NURSE, go figure. I guess she knew she wasnt the best with the patients, but she did a good job on my surgery. So he is aware and is alos capable of the surgery and colonscopy, I had to have the colonoscopy done the day before the surgery. Anywho I will keep all of what you shared in mind. Im sure Im gonna need it.View Thread
