So, for about the past week or so I've been getting this really weird feeling on my belly. It almost feels like something is running accross my belly--but just under my skin. It's not the little pokes down below that I've felt before. It seriously feels like a little ant right under my skin. It's sort of a tickling/itching feeling and it's usaully centralized to a small area. (A different location on my belly each time it happens--usually down low or on the sides--but the feeling is centralized to that one spot each time.) At first I thought it was just my shirt getting caught on a piece of belly button hair but then when I started feeling it in places where I didn't have as much hair I got confused. I keep thinking maybe this is what people are talking about when they say "butterflies" because as of yet, all I'd felt were tiny little pokes here and there. Has anyone else had any feelings like this?? Oh, I'm 17 weeks and 1 day today. Thanks!View Thread
I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm also 15 weeks along and have been feeling a lot of pain in my lower abdomen. It alternates between the left side, right side, or all through the middle like period cramps. Sometimes it's a dull ache and sometimes (usually when I'm moving around) it's a sharper, more pin-pionted pain. I haven't had much lower back pain though. I called my doctors office and they said it was normal--as long as I'm not bleeding. At my last OB visit, I brought it up again and again, she said it was normal--as long as there isn't any bleeding or spotting. She even checked my cervix to make sure it was still closed. She said just like with menstral cramps, tylenol or a heating pad can help ease the pain. Also, try drinking more water. I've read that 10 8-ounce glasses per day is a good goal. I don't think I've quite had that many yet. Sometimes I get tired of drinking ONLY water!! lol! Oh, for a glass of pinot noir... Anyway, I digress... I hope that helps some with your concerns about the pregnancy aches and pains. I've been worried about it too...and even just hearing from you two ladies saying you're experiencing the same thing makes me feel better. Best of luck to you both! View Thread
Hi Liz! Welcome! I remember you from the first trimester. How are you feeling? I'm 15 w 2 d and I'm finally starting to feel better. Still tired, definitely more like myself. Hope it's getting better for you too. Best of luck in the 2nd tri!View Thread
Hi Hannahcarb, from talking to my doctor, I don't think they like to prescribe antidepressants to pregnant women, but in more extreme cases they will prescribe them in the last 6 - 8 weeks for women who've experienced depression throughout thier pregnancy. This is also a way to help combat a what may lead to a severe case of post-partum depression. If I were you, I'd talk to you psychiatrist because the decision is ultimately up to you. As for the ADD, I too have ADD and was on medication for it for the past 11 years...well until we started ttc. I don't know about you, but work has been the biggest challenge for me. I feel like my productivity levels are way down along with my energy and even the desire to deliver the same output. Hopefully, things will get back to "normal" once our LO arrives. And hopefully, this gave you a little more insight into the whole antidepressants while pregnant issue. Good luck to you!View Thread
Names: if it's a boy, we were planning on Michael Wayne. I've always loved the name Michael and my husband's grandfather's name was Wayne--and both he and his dad have it for their middle names. Recently, the ultarsound tech bumped up my EDD to 3/27...not a huge difference but if the LO comes on 3/27 AND is a boy...I was thinking about Matthew Wayne. Matthew was my grandfather's name and his birthday was 3/27--so it just works. If it's a girl, we are thinking Alexa Belle.
We won't know the sex until 11/11...that's the big U/S date!! But we'll wait until we have our parents in town for Thanksgiving to tell them if they'll have a grandson or granddaughter. View Thread
Hi All, I've been lurking around for the past week and a half or so and wanted to officially say hello. I'm 14 weeks today and by all standards out there (because I've seen a few) I'm finally in my second trimester. YAY!!
I do have a question though... I came back from lunch today and when I walked into my office I felt what seemed to be little kicks at the very bottom of my belly. Could this possibly have been the baby moving?? Or was it a muscle spasm? It was several little "punches"...very slight but I definitely felt something...and it lasted for about 10 -15 seconds. From what I've read, most women don't feel movement until the 18th week or so. That's why I thought it might have been a muscle spasm, but if it was my LO in there... that'd be WAY more exciting!! I take a prescription prenatal--Citrinatal (not sure of the spelling but your OB should recognize the name). They have an "Assure" and a "Harmony"...one has seperate vitamin and DHA pills and one has them combined into 1 pill (purple capsule). Personally the 2 pills upset my stomach terribly so I just take the 1 purple pill. A girlfriend of mine likes the 2 pills. She had a previous m/c so she felt better taking the seperate DHA pill and she said it was fine for her stomach. It guess it's a matter of personal choice. I opted for the Rx because I had a hard time finding over the counter prenatals w/ 1000 mg of DHA. And yes, they are expensive but if you have a flexible healthcare spending account it definitely helps! I'm sure your OB can give you samples of a couple different ones to try if you're interested in an Rx prenatal.View Thread
