I'm glad WIC got involved so you can find out what is going on. You might want to change to a doctor that will take you more seriously.View Thread

I have to have my water ice cold. I can't stand it if it's even a little warm.
Try eating fruit instead of the candy. The sugar in fruit is better than the refined sugar you find in candy. Buy some dried fruit to suck on if you have to have something in your mouth to suck on.
I had to curb my cravings because of gestational diabetes. It was difficult at first but after a while it became easier and I don't have some of the cravings I had before.View Thread

I hope you don't have to deal with GD either, it's not much fun. At least with my diet i've been able to maintain my weight and haven't gained a lot.
Be sure to eat plenty of protein and fiber and stay away from things high in carbs if you think you might have GD. And get plenty of exercise. A walk after meals helps a lot.View Thread

GD can cause low fluid and cause problems with the placentia making it hard for baby to get the needed oxygen and nutrients it needs.
At 18 weeks my placentia was low so I had to get another one a month later to check to see if it corrected itself, which it did. With GD it can cause the baby to grow too fast and can cause other problems so I get ultrasounds every month to make sure everything is ok and baby is growing normally.
I sure hope your sister's baby was ok. GD can put you into high risk because of the risk factors involved. She could have gotten preeclamsia (sp?), gone into early labor or had a large baby among other problems. I'm surprised her doctor only ordered two ultrasounds.View Thread

I'm surprised that you only get 2 ultrasounds. Is that common for your state/insurance?
I have GD so I get an ultrasound every month to monitor my little guy and now i've started non-stress tests so i'm hooked up to monitors for 20 min. twice a week to check the baby's heartbeat, fluid, and to make sure baby is gettting enough oxygen.
It's pretty cool to see your baby wave at you. Mine did that at my 10 week ultrasound.
I think a 4D ultrasound would be pretty cool and I don't think it's too early to get one.View Thread

If you eat foods like pasta, potatoes, rice they are quick energy foods and don't stay with you for long making you hungry again. Try eating foods that will stay with you longer.
Sometimes your body will say it's hungry when you are actually thirsty so try drinking a glass of water first and see if that helps.View Thread

I'm starting to have some really bad heartburn myself and so far tums seems to help some. I've also used Maalox max and that works a little better than tums.
Try eating smaller meals and see if that helps and stay away from spicy or acidic foods.
Talk to your doctor again and see if he/she has any other suggestions.View Thread

Talk to your doctor because he/she may be able to give you something for the nausea.
Hope you feel better soon.View Thread
