This time around, I'm definitely listening to my body more, I'm a lot more about comfort than I was last time. I do work an office job, so at least I'm in a/c during the day. It's usually the weekends that get me, running around, doing yard work, etc I have to make sure I drink plenty of water and take a break if I feel like I'm getting over heated.View Thread

Do your research. A woman who is at an appropriate/healthy weight pre-pregnancy should gain between 25-35 lbs during the entire pregnancy, a woman who is overweight should gain 15-25 and a woman who is obese should gain no more than 15.
During pregnancy, you only need an additional 300 calories per day. To give you an idea, 1 tbsp of peanut butter is 100 calories. And that is assuming you are not overeating to begin with.
Find out what kind of excerises you can still do while pregnant and keep in shape. Take your vitamins and drink plenty of water.
You have to understand, your baby is going to take what it needs from you and you are going to get whats left. So that means, if you aren't eating right, your baby is gonna take all the vitamins and minerals it needs and you are going to be left feeing run down - you are the one that is going to suffer, not the baby. So, you need to eat right and be healthy so that you can function on a daily basis.
There is no reason you can't eat right (not starving yourself!), stay fit and have a healthy pregnancy. You are gonna be fine momma!View Thread

Well, he thought that was stupid (his words, so eloquent, that one), because what if people want to buy gifts, then how are they gonna know what gender to buy for? Oh yes, very strong argument. His idea was then to have a Gender Reveal Party instead of a traditional baby shower. (I know....)
So, we are to have the US tech put the results in an envelope, when we are ready to have the party we take the results to a bakery, have them assemble a cake, blue frosting in the middle for a boy, pink for a girl frost with white (or chocolate) frosting and we cut into the cake at the party and VOILA! Everyone finds out at the same time.
Oh yes honey, very cute idea. However - if people want to buy gifts for the party they STILL wont know what gender to buy for because they wont find out until the party!! Not sure if he thought that one through all the way, not that it matters, he is standing by that idea, that's what he wants to do so that is what we are doing.
My idea? Toss the results that the US tech gives me (because I am going to the big US alone - DH jobs makes it difficult for him to take off and honestly, what do I need him there for?) and when I have the bakery do the cake, have them do a double layer cake and put pink in one layer and blue in the other and when we cut it at the party - yell out - "SURPRISE, I'm having TWINS!" *Give DH a few minutes, because he will most likely pass out at this point*
Then after it dies down, tell everyone I am only kidding and reveal the true results. I really do want to just not find out at all, but if I have no choice - then I am at least going to have a little fun and mess with people.
I am looking for ideas on how to reveal the true results. Have DS run out in a pink/blue shirt? Wear a pink/blue tank top under my shirt and rip off my shirt? Just scream out "It's a _____!"
I don't know. I need some ideas. Please and thank you.View Thread

At the very least, your boyfriend can read, perhaps you can have a friend or family member there just as an extra set of hands to jot things down to keep him in the loop.
I'm sorry you are going through this, hopefully you guys can figure something out that works for you.View Thread

Like you, I have been trying to eat healthier so that my numerous snacks don't turn into numerous calories and it seems to be working, so far I've put on about 7 lbs. I was 118 pre-prego and this morning I weighed myself and I was 125 - however, I did get a stomach bug last week and wasn't able to eat much of anything for about 2 days, so I'm sure I lost a couple pounds!
15 lbs at 15 weeks isnt terrible, but you still have another 25ish weeks to go, and the last trimester is usually when women put on a pound a week, (which is what you are doing now) so if you continue to put on a pound a week, you are going to end up gaining a total of 40 lbs, assuming you ONLY gain 1lb/week.
A pb/banana milkshake has 240 calories - that's using 1/2 a banana, 1 tablespoon of PB and 8oz of skim milk. By itself, that isn't too bad (sounds really good, actually!) but what else are you eating? And how many of these shakes are you having a day? You obviously don't want to go on a diet while prego and I know you said you eat healthy - perhaps there isn't much you will be able to do about your weight gain, perhaps you can examine your snacks and swap them here and there for an even healthier alternative.
Try not to stress about it too much, just do what you can and enjoy your pregnancy. Best wishes!View Thread

What you need to do, is find a friend or family member that you will be comfortable with having in the delivery room there to interpret when necessary. I can't imagine that there isn't someone between the 2 of you that would be willing to be there for you both in this situation.
Best wishes, it'll be okay!View Thread
