Personally, I started my pregnancy already obese (according to BMI charts) so my doctor advised me to gain no more than 15, and ideally, only 10. I have not increased the amount of food I've been eating, just making healthier choices, and it seems to be working.
Although your baby will take what it needs from you, it can't take what it needs if you're not giving it anything. Make good choices on what you do eat: whole grains, high fiber, lots of water and fresh fruits and vegetables.
I also found this table helpful to see that the weight I'm gaining isn't just "fat."
http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/healthy-weight-gain
Baby: 8 lbs
Placenta: 2-3 lbs
Amniotic fluid: 2-3 lbs
Breast tissue: 2-3 lbs
Blood supply: 4 lbs
Fat stores for delivery & breastfeeding: 5-9 lbs
Uterus increase: 2-5 lbs
A woman's body does something amazing and wonderful by growing a baby. You have to see it that way, and not just "I'm getting so fat." Yes, you're gaining weight. You're growing another HUMAN, and that takes time, food, and love. Try to focus on the fact that being pregnant is not a right or an obligation, it's a choice and a privilege, and even though it might seem like it lasts forever, it's really just a blip on your lifetime radar. You want to give your baby the best start possible, and that means taking good care of yourself. ((BIG HUGS)) Try not to let the numbers get to you, just make good choices and stay active, and you'll come out OK

s/c: Lots of movement from dude! He seems more restive than K was in utero, but he kicks harder when he does kick. Some RLP when getting up and down, belly definitely "popped" out. My boss was on vaca all last week and today she said "Wow, your belly grew a lot in a week!" I neglected to mention that I'd also been eating like a HORSE. LOL.
Other: Kawika is having a hard time teething. His last front tooth is coming in, 1 molar just broke and another is working its way through. Poor little guy is miserable

Next d/a: 7/25 for a routine OBView Thread

s/c: Peeing all the time and sore hips make it hard to sleep. My face broke out again. Passed my GD screen w/no problems, which is nice, since I've been eating pretty much everything I see lately... better get a handle on that!
other: My 14-month old is cutting his 3rd molar and it's a tough one. We were up and down all night the last 2 nights; he couldn't sleep because his mouth hurt. Poor little fella. Getting excited for our 5-day camping trip coming up on the 9th!

2. How many children do you have? 1 boy
3. Do you want more children after this one? I could go either way, we'll have to see how our family feels after this one's here
4. Biggest craving during this pregnancy? Chipotle burritos with hot salsa, pineapples (but not together)
5. Are you having a boy or girl? Boy
6. What made you pick the name for your unborn child? Family and cultural influences (Hawaiian first name, English middle name)
7. Oddest thing you have cried about? Any happy/sappy commercial on tv gets me. Oh, and a mommyblog I read, she posted something really sweet about her son and I started crying, sitting in front of my computer by myself.

w/g: Back up to my pre-pg weight, so zero. Don't be jealous, it won't last long

s/c: Have to pee all the time, my hips hurt at night so I try to sleep on my back but then I can't breathe so I'm back to one side or the other, which hurts... but I can feel Little Dude moving ALL the time, so that's cool.
other: Am currently in the middle of my glucose tolerance test. It's the "new" 2-hour test that's supposed to be more accurate than the 1-hr, but it means I have to hang out at the lab for 2 hours and get 3 blood draws. I'm hungry and bored and have a headache and that syrupy stuff is starting to kick in so I feel kinda buzzed.
Next d/a: In a few hours for a routine OB. The one after that is... 7/25?View Thread
