It's not a good thing for a woman to lose weight while pregnant, but it does happen. Especially in cases of extreme morning sickness. If she is sick, her doctor should be able to prescribe her something to help. The biggest concern is dehydration and the baby not getting nutrients. Is she taking a prenatal vitamin? It sounds like the baby is doing okay.
They may be using scare tactics, but if you're both concerned, it may be worth seeking a second opinion. I lost 12 pounds in my first trimester and have now gained 16 pounds. I'm at 27 weeks. Best of luck!View Thread

s/c: lots of hip pain. DD and I went swimming that that seems to have helped in the short term. I need to find a pool closer to me.
Other: DH and I still can't agree on a middle name. DH is now pushing for no middle name, but I'm not a big fan of that.

Weight gain: 6 lbs
s/c: lots of hip pain and I'm having pain in my left heel when walking
other: finally decided on doing a repeat c-section instead of trying VBAC. If this boy follows DH at all, he'll be a 10 pounder. Switching OB's which makes me nervous but the new one is 1 mile from my house whereas the current one is 20 miles away.
Next appointment: Aug. 21 check up w/ OBView Thread

Weight gain: 6 lbs
s/c: fatigue and really sore hips
Other: had my 20 week ultrasound today. Baby boy was measuring 21-1/2 weeks which is consistant with what my original due date was. (OB pushed it back 2 weeks in the beginning of the pregnancy.) They said they won't change the due date, so I'm thinking this baby will be early. Still have to decide if I want to do VBAC or a repeat c-section. Can't make up my mind.
