Hi missashley.
I'm just lurking but thought I'd give you a little encouragement. I have had four pregnancies with gestational diabetes. I thought it was going to be just awful when I was first diagnosed. I managed and it wasn't so bad. You will do fine. You kind of kick into overdrive when you realize you need to do this to have a healthy baby in the end. Plus, you more than likely will be considered high risk and will get monitored more closely toward the end. That means lots more pictures of your little movie star! And on the upside, so many people have diabetes now a days that there are lots of meal ideas and snack options out there. It's not so daunting once you start looking into it. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy. You got this girl!!!View Thread

Hi.
When you meet with the dietician, they should give you lots of information about what you can and can't eat. The portion size is the worst part, but I think you'll be surprised at how many different foods you can eat. My dietician told me to add a lot of fiber in my diet because it helps to keep your blood sugar levels down. I am diabetic and I've been pregnant 4 times. It's not that bad and it's easier to focus on what you eat when you realize it will help your baby.
One of my best snacks was sugar free jello topped with sugar free cool whip.
Good luck!View Thread

I know when I had my daughters, they tested me at about 10 weeks. I know it was during the first trimester. I had SOOO MUCH bloodwork with my son, they may have tested early also. I know they did it during third tri with him also. My husband and I had literally just started dating when I got pregnant with my first daughter. When they called to tell me I had Clamydia (sp?) , I absolutely freaked out! I had to take a pill and so did he and that was it. They did do an ultrasound to make sure baby was okay.View Thread

I had my son by c-section at 36 weeks due to failure of multiple non-stress tests and other factors. At the time, I was so done with being pregnant, I was actually relieved that he was coming already. But, after sitting in the hospital for a week watching him breathe with the help of a machine and wondering if he was going to be okay, I feel bad for wishing he would come early. That was way worse than being miserable being pregnant.
I know it is frustrating, but your LO will be here before you know it. Hang in there!View Thread

I had the same problem when I was pregnant this last time. I had weekly ultrasounds also. It never seemed to become an issue until I delievered at 36 weeks because I failed the non stress tests and when they would do an ultrasound, they couldn't track his breathing very well. When I had my c-section and they cut open my uterus, I heard a big gush on the floor and everyone, including DH gasped. The OB said "my gosh, that's A LOT of fluid!". DH said it went all over the doc's shoes. HaHa! Anyway, that's kind of TMI, but my son had pneumonia immediately after birth and stayed in the hossy for a week. Doc said it was due to the fact that there was so much fluid and since he wasn't delivered vaginally, it couldn't get squeezed out. Sounds like you OB is monitoring it good and I'm sure if it turns into a problem, he won't let you go much further. My OB didn't seemed too concerned about it either. It sounded like something that was pretty common. My son turned out perfectly fine and your LO will be fine too. Hang in there! I worry about everything too. You'll be holding your baby soon!! Almost there!View Thread

Lurking....
With my last two pregnancies, I would throw up everytime I had to drive more than a few miles during the last month. Brushing my teeth was tough and I had to have NST's and ultrasounds twice a week from 32 weeks on. Everytime I would lay flat, I would start throwing up! They would just bring me a trashcan before they started. Sorry I can't offer any words of encouragement! Hope it gets better....

I've had 3 c-sections and it seems like it took me about 3 weeks with this last one to feel somewhat normal. It's a roller coaster though. You might feel great one day and then yucky the next. And I honestly do think it contributes to the baby blues! It makes you feel a little helpless at times. DH didn't understand that I just couldn't run around town and be super human like he was used to. Use this time to slow down and enjoy your baby. I know it's hard, but I promise, you'll be back to your old self soon! Take care!View Thread
