I had a Dr appt on Thurs. 21st. (Due the 22nd) I was 3 cm dilated and 60% effaced. My midwife said there was some "bloody show" and my plug was gone. Not much else happening though. I had no labor symptoms all week. Headed to work for the 3-11 shift. Had the typical post check cramping and backache.
I got home about 12:30 a.m. and crawled into bed still really uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep, I was up peeing, then decided at 2:30 a.m. maybe a hot shower and tylenol would help the cramping so I could get some sleep.
All of a sudden out of no where at 2:45 a.m. the contractions started fast and strong! They were 3 minutes apart, lasting a minute to a minute and a half each. OUCH!!!! I couldn't believe how fast things were going. Still had to finish packing our bags and wait for the sitter to arrive. Needless to say as she was coming down the street we were leaving our driveway, I honestly didn't think we were going to make it to the hospital, in the car the contractions were about 2 min apart.
Made it to the hospital at 4:20, was in my room by 4:30 and was 7cm dilated. Thank god I was still able to get the epidural at 5:30, started pushing at 6:10...was so numb I had no idea if I was even moving her down at all! LOL! Hadley June was born at 6:49 am, 7 lbs, 8 oz, 20.5 inches. No complications, everything went perfectly, not even a single stitch!
She is beautiful and very easy going! Now we just have to figure out how to juggle a 16 month old and a newborn. Any suggestions? LOL!
Sorry to hear it's been a rough 5 days for you guys! How did his appt go yesterday? Is he gaining weight? I'm sure it's just b/c he's losing his latch that his weight is down. I had to supplement with my first b/c he wouldn't latch and I didn't have a great milk supply. So I pumped like mad and then supplemented when needed. That did the trick. Hope things improve for you! Let me know how he did.
Sorry for the late response. I posted my birth story!!! I actually delivered on her due date. It was an insane experience this time around! Was really not expecting to go into labor over night and be up for over 24 hours that day! LOL! Totally worth it though!View Thread
LOL! Ok labor feels like bad period cramping with back aches, the cramping will turn into waves of basically increased pain going around your belly. You'll probably poop a lot too...just your body getting ready to make a little more room to get this LO out.
You'll know when you're in labor. I just had my second baby on Friday and this labor was much different than the first, but the contractions were very painful. My best advice to you is, when they start, make sure you're taking nice slow, deep breaths and you relax your body as much as possible. On the drive to the hospital I was all tensed up and breathing so fast b/c of the pain...that made it soooooo much worse. The nurse told me to slow my breathing down and relax my body, and boy was she right. Still hurt like hell, but I was able to control it better
I wasn't dilated more than 1 cm with my first until I went into labor. He was engaged too. I remember being really crampy and having a lot of braxton hicks too. Sounds like you're definitely getting close! How exciting for you! Good luck! I'll be looking for your birth story!!!View Thread
For me, contractions started off with strong period cramps and then I started having intense waves of tightening and a lot of bum pressure...couldn't stop pooping. LOL! I knew it was the real deal when the contractions were painful enough to stop me in my tracks. Couldn't sit, stand, walk, anything comfortably. It's weird, but you'll probably know when it starts. Has to be rhythmic, increase in intensity, last longer and occur more frequently. Good luck View Thread
I was considering getting one after this baby too. After speaking with my friend who used one, I changed my mind only b/c she said they are really tight and you can't bend in them. I've been unable to bend long enough and uncomfortable in my abdomen region long enough! LOL! She's not even sure it worked...with the expense of those things and being in the thick of the hot summer, I decided against it. I'll just be blobby for awhile until I get back into my exercise routine View Thread
