Well...my little trooper had to be delivered via c-section on 12/20/12. His due date was 2/10/13...he was 2 months early.
I went in to be checked by my Dr. on 12/19/12 thinking I lost some of my mucus plug. The dr. wasn't sure it was part of my mucus plug since it had a green tint to it. However, my cervix had softened a little.
Thank God she sent me to the hospital to be monitored! I was having contractions, my cervix had shortened, softened and opened a little. They gave me the meds to stop the contractions and a steroid shot for the baby's lungs. The meds didn't work for the contractions and the baby's heart rate started to decelerate with the contractions.
When the dr came in at 5:15am the next morning on 12/20/12, he told me we should do a c-section. I immediately became worried because I didn't even consider something like this would happen. I was looking forward to my water breaking and rushing to the hospital in panicked excitement and deliver him full-term, vaginally.
When I asked when he planned to schedule the c-section, he said, "Now!" I took a deep breath to process the information, but immediately after started crying.
Shortly after, at 6:06am, my miracle baby, Canaan was born! He is soooo strong and healthy...GLORY BE TO GOD!!!! He didn't need any oxygen or anything. His lungs were great and so was everything else!
He only spent about 2 days in NICU, but since he was doing so well, they moved him to special care. They put him on an iv for nutrition and lipids (a fat). In just a few days, he came off of the lipids and 2 days later, he came off of the iv because he was eating so well...which meant he had no problem sucking, swallowing and breathing!
The drs and nurses are so impressed with him. I thank God for his health. Although I didn't get to carry him to term, God had a special day and time for him to enter this world and my Canaan is exceling.
I LOVE HIM SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!View Thread

He's still doing well!
As for me, happy to have him home. My life has changed so much. Everything is all about him and I'm so busy taking care of him. DH finally made it here from Canada yesterday and I have him training to help care for the baby. I can't wait until he's ready to get up with him in the middle of the night alone so that we can take turns.
Blessings to all of you!View Thread

It started out happening in the middle of the night, but recently started to progress to during the day and I couldn't keep any of my meals down. I got scared and went to the ER. Dr said to take zantac.
Is there anyone taking zantac daily, long-term?
It's hard to know when the reflux will act up and wake you up with pain and vomiting in the middle of the night, so I don't know if I should take it before bed every night to prevent it or not take it so often and risk it.
I have 8 weeks left and I'm hesitant to take it every night to prevent it.
What is your experience?View Thread

The baby weighed 3lbs 3oz and was 16 and 1/2 inches long.
I feel so blessed...the nurses said he thinks he's bigger than he is...lol...my baby is strong, healthy and determined! Praise God!
How are you feeling these days?View Thread

W/G: 36 lbs!
S/C: indigestion / heartburn / braxton hicks - I can't seem to tell if it's the baby balling up or actually braxton hicks.
Other: I have my 4D ultrasound scheduled for Friday. I found a good price that includes the teddy bear with the baby's heartbeat recorded. YAY!!!

W/G: 35 lbs!
S/C: acid reflux / braxton hicks - went to the ER last night due to upper abdominal pain and vomiting...didn't know acid reflux could be so cruel

Other: Baby Canaan wouldn't turn around at the 4-D ultrasound, so I had to reschedule. Tech said I didn't have enough amniotic fluid for the baby to move around so she suggested I drink a gallon of water a day...I don't think I can swing that.

You are almost done though! I so wish I was 36 weeks...uuhhh...make that 40 if he's going to take that long, but if he wants to come at 37 weeks, I think that will be safe.View Thread

I'm sorry to hear that...I wish I was 34 weeks already. When did your heartburn start?View Thread

I hope he is active and the quality is good.
For $115, I even get the teddy bear with the baby's heartbeat!
Were you happy with your ultrasound?View Thread

The next night I took the peppermint tea it did absolutely nothing and I even vomitted. I think it was because it turned into heartburn and peppermint makes heartburn worse.
So far I learned, for me, the tums didn't help indigestion and the peppermint tea did. The tums do help with the heartburn, but I think a cup of milk does the same trick for heartburn as tums. Milk is now my best friend!View Thread
