I am so sorry that I have been MIA for so long with 5 kids and trying to run two in-home based businesses it gets a little crazy around here. I am getting really excited about #6 coming soon...but nervous at the same time. I am already 2-3 cm dialated and the baby seems to be doing well, however I have to go for an u/s every week now until he is born because my fluid levels are high and not the normal high levels, I am really nervous not knowing what that means and when I question the dr he tells me it is nothing to worry about they just want to keep an eye on it...well to me if they want to keep an eye on it then it could mean that it could lead to something, am I right? Anyone experience that?
TIA for your help!

...on July 23, 2011 at 3:42 pm EST. I spent the morning getting my coupons and list together for the store and was kind of hungry so I went to get apples for myself and the 4 kids and when I stood up my water broke. I told my husband OMG we need to go to the hospital because my water just broke and he said no you just peed yourself. I said if I peed myself then it would stop and this is not stopping. He then realized ok it was the water that broke and said I guess I better go get a shower(since he had just cut the grass). Now he has been through this 4 times before but still managed to get into a tizzy...he sent the 11 year old to get the bag for the hospital and some dry clothes for me and all I could do was laugh. We got to the hospital around 12:30ish and I still wasn't contracting on my own so the nurse said that the dr was giving me the option of waiting it out or starting pitocin(crazy enough I wanted the pitocin, I still don't know why I said that), I guess after sitting there for about an hour and a half I guess I wanted things to start moving, so around 2ish they started the pitocin drip and by 3:42 he was here...all hubby kept saying to the little one is come on the Phillies are playing at 4:05 and wouldn't you like to watch the game with your dear ol dad...well apparently he did because he was born before they came on. He weighed in at 7lbs 10oz and was 21 inches long. He is doing well adjusting to the other kids and they are taking to him well too. He is doing great breastfeeding, even though I am sore, hopefully that will pass in time. He is doing a lot of spitting up and I am concerned that he may be developing reflux, of course it is happening on the weekend so I can't take him into the peds office and if I call they will just tell me to take him to the ER. For as much as I wanted this little guy out I was so UNPREPARED at home for him. You would think by #5 I would have everything under control...LOL...NOT! I didn't have any food in the house(well the day I went into labor I was going shopping). Oh well we are managing and I am enjoying the time with my little one since he most likely is my last and they grow up so fast!View Thread
Ok so I go in today for my 39 week appointment and I am completely beside myself. I have only dialated to 4cm and 50% effaced...my due date is Wed and the dr is talking induction already on August 2...I really wanted to go sooner than that. If I do go over my due date I have to have a NST and a BPP done...which means I have to trek 4 kids with me since DH is saving as much time as he can for when the little guy is born. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to speed up labor would be greatly appreciated...DTD is out of the question since DH has poison oak thanks to it growing in between our trees and he came into contact with it while cutting the grass.
I have been in this situation before where I was being told that my daughter was possibly going to have down syndrome or another worse birth defect. They told me that I should get an amnio done and I did and told them that it won't change my mind as to whether or not I keep the baby. I am keeping her no matter what because tests can be wrong, because they are performed by humans who can from time to time make mistakes. The drs and nurses were so rude telling me that I was wrong for making my decision to keep my daughter, well turns out she is a happy vibrant full of life 5 year old now who just happens to have down syndrome. I am so glad that I have chosen to keep my daughter because the love and joy she bring to us is amazing. Yes it is a struggle from time to time but the positives outweigh the negatives anyday!View Thread
I am in the Cecil County area. When the dr checks for dialation I guess he "sweeps the cervix" and it is supposed to help with things, but this time around with this baby it hasn't done anything. I can not believe that I am still here, since this is my 5th child and all of my other children came early like around 37 weeks and have been fine.View Thread
I am sorry that you are dealing with so much pain...I am also in Maryland (whereabouts are you?) I know that the dr has stripped my membranes twice and nothing has really happened. I have only dialated to 3cm 1 cm a week, at that rate I will be here until August and my feet were so SWOLLEN yesterday that I am getting nervous.View Thread
