I failed my 3 hr on the last check with DD. they told me I was borderline for GD, not that I actually had it. They just ave me a list of foods to limit to avoid my baby getting too big. I did a decent job at following orders (although I did cheat a few times) and my daughter was a healthy 7lbs 3oz. Don't stress over the 3 hr. I now other people who failed the 1 hr and passed the 3.View Thread

I had two showers. The first was mostly my parents neighbors who knew me growing up. They all have older kids so none of them have shopped for baby stuff in a loooooong time. I didn't get anything from my registry. Everyone bought stuff that they thought was cute or fun or things they liked when they had their kids. It was really nice and everyone was thoughtful in their own way, but it was frustrating that we didn't get anything we really needed.
Then some of my girlfriends where I live threw a shower for me, with far less people, but they got us a TON of stuff from our registry. So it can really go either way. (I also have an aunt who is a shop-a-holic and bought about half of our registry and then some and filled my living room with great stuff when she came to visit.)
As pp said, there will likely be a lot of people who shop at the last minute. So you still might get a lot of stuff. If you find you still need bigger stuff, watch out for the 20% off coupons BRU does. For stuff that you don't get and won't need the day you bring your baby home, you can use those coupons to save a lot of money if you use them on the more expensive items. We saved a few hundred dollars using those over the last 8 mos or so.
Good luck! And either way, just remember to have fun and enjoy the people who love you! No matter when they get, they wouldn't be there at all if they didn't love you and already love your baby!View Thread

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I've passed the time and distracted myself this weekend by cleaning and reorganizing EVERYTHING in my house (every cabinet, every closet, and every other storage area). It's not as good as having this baby, but having everything look so nice is relaxing me and I feel even more ready to bring my little girl home than I already did. I'm still hoping to go into labor tonight so I don't have to work tomorrow!View Thread

I went to the dr yesterday and for the third week in a row, I am only 1 cm dilated and 25% effaced. Labor just will not come! I have been doing EVERYTHING they've told me to do at the dr's office and more. DH and I have been having sex like we're about to die (we're even talking multiple times in one day), and it is so uncomfortable. I have no idea how many miles I've walked. I've eaten so much spicy food I think I've turned into a dragon, drinking red raspberry leaf tea, and nothing is working! The midwife told me yesterday to try taking evening primrose oil, so I got some of that on the way home yesterday and I'm trying that, too. But this is getting out of control.
I really expected to go into labor early. This baby is killing me. I'm in sooooooo much pain that working is almost unbearable (but for financial reasons, I can't take off any more than my maternity leave, which is unpaid) and I can't sleep at night. It is 4:30 in the morning and despite having taken Tylenol PM (they told me to try that at the dr to help with the pain at night so I can sleep) there is no rest for the weary. I don't know how I can keep going like this. I'm on the verge of tears all the time from exhaustion, frustration, and discomfort (to put it mildly).
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Other than castor oil, b/c I've heard that could cause the baby to pass meconium in utero and that is not something I'm willing to risk, I'll try just about anything. I need this baby out... like a couple of weeks ago.View Thread
