I was told almost 3 years ago I had RA and I've taken many treatments, I fear for my joints twisting and the swelling and pain is often unbearable. But about 3 months ago I developed a stabbing pain in my back on my left side. I went to the Dr and was diagonsed with pnemoaia in both lungs so because of the meds i was taking for the RA methotrexate and humeria I was put in the hospital. After many chest xrays and ct scan it was learned that it was pulmonary fibrosis. I have never been so scared in all my life. I am now taking 60 mgs of prednizone daily and I am diabetic so lots of insulin. If anyone out there has feed back I would be so thankful. My drs seemed to be hopeful and I am trying but I lost my Dad to pulmonary fibrosis about 15 years ago he did not have RA. I am only 49 yrs old my Dad was only 58.View Thread
I know where you are at now. I quit 2 years ago. I did not use anything but a strong will, it was hard but has been well worth it. I had reached the point where I was waking in the night gasping for air, and was unable to speak in a complete sentance without coughing. I went to a dr with my husband and the dr began to question my cough. He suggested that i have some test run and I told him I was to scared of the results so he told me to stop smoking and that was the last day I did. No it was not easy I smoked for over 30 years. So if you need some help with it do talk to your dr they will help you and will give you all of the information you need. Just remember don't give up and good luck.View Thread

I am new to the diagnoses of RA. I found out about 5 months ago. I have been on the metho for 4 months, I now take 6 a week and 2 folic acid a day. I am glad to report that I am very blessed I have had no side effects so far. If I have had any hair loss I haven't noticed. I feel better today than I have in a long long time. This site has really been an encougement to me. I will pray for you and I know that everything will be ok.View Thread
Snazzyactor I am feeling 100% better, I've taken the increase of the methotrexate to 6 a week, and the folic acid, and the prednisone also she put me on celeabrex WONDERFUL. My pain for the first time in years is bearable and I can move my index, middle and ring fingers on both hands. As for as talking this site has been a blessing. I know my family is tired of hearing me they don't understand and I know its hard for them to see me feel so bad so I try not to complain but I do get tired of them thinking I can still do like I use to. My family is under the impression I am wonder woman who like the bunny can keep going and going going. Well not any more. But thank you for asking and I pray you continue to improve. Do talk to your Dr about the folic acid I have had no side effects.View Thread
I guess I'm better. My dentures are just so big and they won't adjust them until it has been 6 months so I am holding on. Eating is still hard but it is more of my stomach, went yesterday to my RA doctor still in alot of pain so my Methotrexate has been increased to 6 a week but she also increased my folic acid to 2 a day. I am also fighting with diabetes and I am so tired of everything. I know in my hear that having my teeth pulled had nothing to do with all of this but. . . since then I am diabetic and have RA. I am frustrated and so tired of it all. Today has been better started on prednizone for 9 days and it is wonderful I was able to get some things done today. I am looking for brighter days ahead it has to get better RIGHT?View Thread
I am new too, not only to this community but to the reality of having RA. I was diagnosed in June of this year. Man has it been hard. The pain and sfiffness has really been hard then getting use to taking so much medicine. I know how you feel about your friends. My family has tried to be understanding yet it seems that they think it's not as bad. I did have to stop working several years ago due to fatique, no sleep painful joints and many other symtoms but i was told it was fibromyalgia until recently when i woke up and could not move or bend by fingers so i went to the doctor and here we are. I have gained so much from this site. It is so good to know I am not alone.View Thread
I had to have all of my teeth pulled recently as well. I had no idea at that time i had RA. I left the dentist office with a full set of dentures it has been almost 4 months. My dentures still give me trouble, i learned while at my doctors office that i suffered from RA, and that it causes bone loss. For the past 4 weeks i have been taking Methotrexate and eating is now a problem. Your dentist needs to be a little more understanding.View Thread
