Taking Fatigue tip #8 to the next level. Use the breathing exercises to start a meditation routine. The benefits of meditation seem to occur after regular practice. After a month of daily meditation, you may find less stress and fatigue. You may also notice you are more intuitive. Use the breathing technique in tip 8 and focus on your breaths in a safe and relaxing room or location. You will certainly have thoughts during mediation, but don't think of them as good or bad, just recognize them and toss them aside. Try breathing with your abdomen and not your chest. Perform this simple exercise several times per day. Breath in for five seconds, hold for 2 or 3 seconds, then exhale fully. Imagine an image that may help you relax. When I peform this exercise, I imagine a street lined with trees.View Thread
In addtion to controlling the signs and symptoms of RA, many patients find that taking a TNF blocker may help with their energy. Neverthless,these drugs are not indicated for fatigue in patients who do not have active Rheumatoid arthritis.View Thread
Nuvigil is a medication to help with wakefulness in those with shift related fatigue. I am not an expert in this area and will refer my patients to a sleep specialist. I enclose some information below from the comapny's web site. I do caution my patients who take this drug about an uncommon, but life threatening side effect associated with this drug called Stevens Johnson syndrome. Stevens Johnson syndrome damages the skin and mucous membranes and if it develops, it is often associated with a poor outcome.

1.No caffeine after 2 PM, 2. don't exercise too close to bed time, 3. allow a period of time to unwind before bed., 4. don't clock watch. 5. if unable to leep for 15 minutes, get up and read, watch TV etc and return to bed when drowsy 6. and most important, get the pets out of the bed!View Thread
