Did Dr. give you the name of the drug to be used in study? If so, will you post it in this discussion so we can follow? Have you done a web search abt this drug?
FYI, I love your web name Pretzelady. Clearly, you ARE a very young 76 with a quick wit to boot.
Hope to hear more abt your decision to participate in study.

Yeah, the side effects related to some of our meds suck! I was diagnosed in 2007 and dr prescribed methotrexate. I lost alot of hair and didn't like the side effects, so was not very compliant with meds in the first years. However, RA began affecting my hands quickly and dramatically. I didn't really understand that methotrexate suppresses inflammation, swelling, pain and most importantly slows joint damage. I wish my RA specialist had told me clearly about the permanent damage that can occur. Now, I DO take the methotrexate and have Remicade IV infusions in an attempt to slow further damage. I space my once weekly methotrexate dose several hours apart and take with food to reduce stomach issues. I also take 2 mg folic acid which helps a bit with hair loss. Wishing you good health!View Thread

Do you take it in AM or Bedtime? How much time before meal? If I forget to take before a meal, how long do I need to wait after meals?View Thread

REALLY appreciate your very informative details abt methotrexate!View Thread

I just met with a PT and she suggested I try the Kensington SlimBlade trackball. It is rectangular and does not require that one grasp with fingers. Additionally, the R/L click buttons are large so can keep fingers spread. The price is abt $130.
Thanks for all feedback!View Thread
