Additionally, I've osteoarthritis in both hands. The finger joints & on ea knuckle of the pointer finger are always swollen & painful. I've noticed that on each finger's nailbed is slightly purple. Is this a cause for concern?
Best to all,

What numbers is one to be concerned with when labs are performed? I've not got a great handle on most lab results and wondered what are typical numbers for one who has RA? What blood levels are considered to be moderate RA as opposed to severe RA?
Also, I wondered how others handle joint pain in the fingers and knuckles. My hands & knuckles hurt & are inflamed all the time.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Does the lack of estrogen affect cholesterol and joint damage in RA? I'm 52 and have supposedly been post-menopausal for 1-1/2 yrs. Looking for a new OB because it'll be 2 months before I can get in to see him to ask questions & to discuss symptoms, etc...

I work with elementary special ed children in kindergarten and first grade. They're incubators of germs to begin with, but in addition to the flu vaccine, I wondered if getting a Whooping Cough vaccine. Or, would this compromise the system even more than it is now?
Enjoy the full moon this eve & tomorrow (9/29). BTW, if you're in education, you'd understand the effects of the full moon on children!

Thank you for researching if Enbrel affects cholesterol and triglycerides. Since the last post, the blood cholesterol is still running 400, but the trigylcerides more than doubled to 1260. On July 5th, I had carpal tunnel surgery. I was off all medication for RA 1 week before and 1 week after. July 12th was the first injection followed by 7/19. On 7/20 I had a blood draw, which of course, was alarming.
Since this time, I've had dr visits to my internist and RA dr. Both are in the same medical group and have access to labs.
Prescription changes have been made and will have another blood draw at the end of the month.
Perhaps Enbrel is the culprit even though statistics state otherwise. Possibly, I am the square peg fitting in a round hole. If it is the Enbrel, do I contact FDA about this?
