It seems that over the last year I have devoloped an increasing amount of joint pain in my fingers and feet. Everytime I go to the Rheumatologist they tell me that the swelling in my fingers and toes is just osteoarthritis and not my RA. Why would I suddenly have so much osteo when I never had problems with my hands and feet prior to three years ago when I was diagnosed with RA? I am in pain all day and all night everyday! I don't sleep well because of the pain in my legs. Every step I take hurts. I have bunions on both feet and knots on my big toes and pinky toes. The balls of my feet are swollen around the joints. My finger joints are sensitive to touch. My right index finger is swollen and stiff nearly all the time. My right arm and wrist hurt me when doing simple tasks. On top of all of that my knees are apparently 15 years older then the rest of my body and I have huge baker's cysts on both legs. Standing and walking hurts my leg from the knee all the way down. I have been told there is nothing that they can do about the baker's cyst. No one in my state will drain them. My rheumy gave me a steroid shot in my knee last week and I have found no relief from that. She told me that if it didn't work that I could make an appointment with the ortho surgeon and his shots were stronger. The last time I got a shot from him it helped for about 4 months. The rheumatologist believes that my RA is well controlled and the only change she has made to any of my RX is to bounce me around on different NSAIDS that do very little for the pain. I have been on 17.5 mg mtx for over 2 yrs with not change in dose. I am tired, frustrated, and angry. I just want to be able to walk through the store I work in without wanting to cry from pain.View Thread
I have been expiriencing stiffness and pain high in my neck for the past several weeks. It has made it difficult to turn my head and on occassion causes headaches. Does anyone have any suggestions for relief. I have tried heat and ice and neither seems to make a difference. I don't go back to the Rheumy until the end of January and I am desperate for ideas.View Thread
For the last couple of months I have had significant swelling my my upper calf that has now spread to my entire lower leg. I went to the doctor and they first ruled out a blood clot and said I had a baker's cyst. They gave me a week pack of methyprednisolone which worked great for a week. The swelling is now back. Has anyone else had experience with these cyst and what kind of treatment did your doctor offer?View Thread
I just got back from rheummy. They are sending me to an orthopedist now. It turns out my simple baker's cyst actually has two lobes and they are both quite large. Now they want to see if the cyst needs to be removed surgically. Oh what fun!View Thread
I don't know about your doctor. My WBC was in the 3s for nearly a year. They continued to do blood test every two months. They also did a stool test and iron test to rule out internal bleeding and iron deficiency. Both test showed good results. Beyond that they just kept an eye on the test and it eventually went back up.View Thread
I was given a d-dimer test today for a swollen lower leg. The results came back positive but I just read that RA can effect the results. My question is how does RA effect the results of this test?View Thread
I have had trouble with my calves hurting and swelling off and on for the last 2 years. I was diagnosed with RA and osteoarthritis in my knees a year and a half ago and have since been on methotrexate. In the last few months the pain in my calves has gotten worse and I now have a large tender knot to the inside of my right calf. When I walk it stings as though the muscle is trying to rip in two. I called the doctors office when it started getting bad the first time and was given a week of steroids which helped greatly for about two weeks. Now it is back again. I can't straighten my leg all the way and of course when swollen I can't bend it very far either. The PA at the doctors office just kept saying "how bizarre" when I explained my problem over the phone. Funny how that didn't make me feel any better. So my question is.....has anyone else experienced this kind of pain or knot. Is this common with RA or is this something unrelated. I don't even notice the knee pain much anymore because the calf pain is far worse.View Thread
My iron and ferritin test came back normal. I am now in the process of completing a fecal occult blood test. My question now is if the blood test comes back normal and my iron is normal how is the anemia usually treated?View Thread
Thank you for your thoughts. I just realized that my skin reactions did start after I stopped the prednisone back in August and seem to get be getting worse little by little. Right now I am dealing with an increadibly itchy rash on my stomach, arms, and legs. Trying to stay positive but with each added problem it becomes more difficult.View Thread
