We used to be close, but ever since he went away to college and found an independent group of friends, we drifted apart and now we haven't seen each other in about three years. I go to Kansas for Christmas with our parents, but he's been claiming that he doesn't have the time to make the trip (he's a teacher, he gets vacation from school every holiday season!). I live in Maine and he lives in Texas, where we grew up, and because of my income I just can't make the trans-continental trip. I personally think he just doesn't care enough to see me.
Our parents are 65. I hate to think of them dying, but we all know that everyone does. I don't know how much longer we're going to have time as a "family." He seems to be throwing it away to callously... but who am I to say anything? If that's the way he wants to be, all I say will fall on deaf ears.
ANYWAY. Thank you again. I may post more pictures.View Thread

I understand your need to keep to yourself, Misty. I have been on this site for ten years and there are two ladies who have been on here for that long who know my real name. That's it. It's also taken me that long to share pictures of myself. So you guys are the first batch!
Of course I don't mind sharing pictures of my little turkey...View Thread

Thank you.
The only thing that would make that package better is cats. (However, cats don't really get along with each other so maybe I should just be happy with my Savannah -- which I am!) Thank you for thinking of me!View Thread

I suppose it comes from my mixed ethnic background... part Burmese, so I have the exotic, partially Asian looks, though I wound up with the light skin like my dad's side of the family.View Thread

If it's not one thing it's another with me... I swear it. In 2008, I fell down some stairs and wound up shattering my ankle and had to have it reconstructed -- surgery, two pins, a plate, two screws, and wire mesh. Five days in the hospital, seven weeks in a cast, another seven weeks of physical therapy, and that's been my weak ankle ever since. It seems that I've sprained it at least once an year since then.
Well, fast forward to last Thursday in the shower and I slipped and fell -- and hurt my ankle again. I went and saw the doctor and she said to me "I want to back in that boot" -- meaning the Air-cast. So I've been sitting around with my ankle up, pretty much immobilized for the last week. It's getting better slowly but I haven't been spending much time online.
So that's what's happening in my world! Hope everyone else is doing okay!View Thread

I LOVE my old children's books! Some of my favorites were the old Misty of Chincoteague series books (I was also a horsey person ...
) as well as the Black Stallion series. I also liked the Babysitter's Club and the Sweet Valley series, as well as some of the independent books, like Mr. Popper's Penguins (the book is so much different from the movie and so much better) and Julie of the Wolves. I spent a lot of time hiding out in my books... I almost wish I could to that again.

Been doing okay... having med changes under the supervision of my pdoc... so far, I've gone off two of my 8 psychotropics, which leaves with a (still absurd) total of 6. I think in the next six weeks we're going to try going off another two and reclassifying anther to medical because it (Topomax) is mainly prescribed for cluster headaches. So I think that will leave me with three, which will be tolerable, I think. In the meantime, things are kinda... LoOPy... for lack of a better description. Perception is wavy and off, sight is generally ... off.. and weird.
So I've been laying low.
Hello to all, Happy Easter if that is your leaning.View Thread
