Help Our Community Answer Your Questions Better By Including In Your Post: Gender, Have You Been Tested For An STD Yet?
Type Of STD Tests and Results? Any Medications To Control Your STD?
The labs returned NEGATIVE:
HSV1 <.10
HSV2 =.13
I understand that 25 days is bit early to test, however since I was "somewhat symptomatic" I figured it may test + if a real infection.
So my question, how much confidence can I take in these labs given the timeline and symptoms?
It should be noted that my doctor said he did not suspect an STD causing my symptoms.
Secondly, should I read anything into HSV2 being more elevated than HSV1?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

This happened to me in 2011 when I had sex with a black biological female and I was really paranoid because I didn't wear a condom. I got tested and was totally FREE of ANY diseases.
This time it was with a transvestite who was Hispanic and appeared to be healthy (I Know that can be deceiving).
I had the sex maybe 1 week ago, and now I am having like allergy symptoms (head congestion, runny nose, eyes puffy), but it makes me paranoid that I might have got something.
I know, I know, no one an KNOW anything until I get tested again but I'm nervous and I work-out and TAKE really GOOD care of myself, another reason why I feel so stupid that I could be throwing it all away for one "fun" time of unprotected sex. I literally have only done this about 2-3 times and maybe had sex 10-20 times PROTECTED.
Can anyone offer me some tips or advice? I looked up HIV symptoms and they say a flu after 1 month or sometimes people don't experience symptoms....
It doesn't have to be HIV though right? Like, could I have gotten something else or nothing?
I don't have any rash or itching on my penis or ANYTHING, just weird allergy symptoms WHICH may be allergies but I'm just freaking out now.
Please help me out if you can and do not judge me negatively....View Thread

During the sex this time, my female partner was on top (I am male). Following my ejaculation she did not 'dismount' for at least 15 minutes. Is it possible that my own semen and/or her sexual fluids entered or re-entered my urethra and caused the infection? Can I get a urethral infection that way if my partner was 100% healthy?View Thread
I have had 3 sexual partners in the past 6 months.

In March I began suppressive therapy: Valacyclovir 500mg/once a day.
After reading Terri Warren's book, The Good News about the Bad News, I found that outbreaks and viral shedding are at their height during the first few months after infection.
My question is,when is there a significant or at least notable reduction in shedding? As in how many months after infection?
I haven't had an second outbreak yet, but I do tend to have frequent prodromal systems (my penis seems to tingle at least every 48 hours for a few hours). I do tend to masturbate frequently and for extended periods of time, which may cause the tingling.
I am not in a relationship, but would like to be sexually active. Of course I would be up front about my herpes and use condoms, but the tingling, which I'm assuming means the virus is present on the surface of my penis, has prevented me from doing so.
How long will it take until the tingling is not as frequent (provided I cut back on the frequent and lengthy masturbation)? Should I consider upping my intake of Valacyclovir? Possibly 500mg/twice a day?
Thank you for your input.View Thread
I had a vulvar extraction of a perennial mass between the anal and vaginal cavity on February first. It has not felt right since the surgery, with the most pain happening after going number two (tee hee). The pain and discomfort has been off and on, the incision site will feel better, then feel worse. I figured it was just taking a long while to heal, since the area it was in has such tight skin. I kept telling myself it would get better and would heal. After a lot of activity it would worsen, but then go away in a few days.
I just went to the doctor last week because it still has gone back and forth from better to worse. When she examined me she said it looked like herpes.
I did not expect to hear this at all, was shocked and confused. I figured it had to be an infection or it just hasn't healed. Since then I have been researching symptoms and individual experiences. This has led to me looking at past signs: a gland in my neck became painfully swollen at the end of March/beginning of April. I had a cold or severe allergies prior to this, so assumed nothing. Then a week later I noticed a white pimple right next to the incision. It popped and was gone without a mark the next day. I got another one maybe a week or so later. I thought maybe it was just infection from the cyst working its way out?
I have been uncomfortable since the surgery, and at times have feared going number 2 because of having to wipe afterwards. Wiping is what really angers it.
My doctor notices a small open sore, and that is why she thinks its herpes. When she scraped it, it really didn't hurt. The next day however, so much pain and puss for the next couple of days. I have had a few more bumps but they have gone as quick as they have come. There is no redness either.
The most pain and pimples have happened since the scraping. Is that normal for the test to cause more? I know I will hear results in the near future, I'd just love to know now from people with experience if this sounds in line with herpes. Also, the symptoms have been here since the surgery. The pimples have happened since the beginning of April, and I just had a new one grow, but not pop yesterday. It just shrank into nothing. Infection or herpes? Can a herpes outbreak produce new pimples every few days or weeks for long periods of time?
Again, thank you so much for being open in communicating your experiences!! Isn't the Internet the best?!
Much love to all of you!!View Thread

I had been drinking that night, so I was having trouble obtaining an erection. The girl put a condom on my penis and started performing oral sex on me, but I had had one too many and could not get an erection. Frustrated, she took the condom off and started performing oral again, this time unprotected. This went on for about 30 seconds before I gave up and asked to end the session.
Essentially, there was only roughly 30 seconds of unprotected intimate contact during the session, during which time I did not have any sort of an erection (I'm not sure if this makes a difference, I just am trying to provide as much detail as possible.) The escort did not have any visible sores on her mouth, or any symptoms for that matter, but regardless I'm still a bit nervous. I plan on getting tested for everything I possibly can as soon as possible, but just wanted to (potentially) put my mind at ease for meantime. I was just wondering what STDs I could possibly have contracted during the session, and the likelihood of the contraction. And please, for other's curiosity in the future, does not having an erection decrease the chances of contracting any STDs?
Thank you for your time reading this post, your responses are much appreciated!View Thread

I am currently travelling around South East Asia and will be travelling for a further two months. Two days ago my friends and I went to a notorious club in Bali. There were "waitresses" that in fact were prostitutes and as we had a bit too much to drink we decided to pay to have sex with them. I have never been with a prostitute before and in hindsight it was a very bad idea that I now deeply regret.
I can't quite explain it, but whilst we were having sex the condom somehow slipped off and I entered her vagina unprotected with the head of my penis (but did not fully penetrate) once. We then stopped having sex and she brought me to a climax orally. Once I got back to the hotel I washed my penis with soap and water.
My questions are: (i) what is the likelihood of getting STDs through a blowjob and only once entering her vagina unprotected, (ii) what symptoms should I look out for (i.e. what will happen first tell me that I am infected and with what), (iii) is Hepatitis B treatable and how? I am quite concerned as I did not have my Hepatitis B jabs done before travelling.
I am very disappointed with myself and I will book for a test at a sex clinic when I get back but I would be grateful to hear your advice as I have two months to go before I arrive in home?
I have been given Doxycycline 100mg pills as anti-malarial pills that I have started taking today as on the instructions it says that it can be used to treat STDs such as syphilis and gonorrhea (but didn't say anything about Hepatitis

a couple of years ago during some routine STD screening, my gyno at the time threw in a herpes test. I am not sure what type it was or the numeric value (if any). I have never had an outbreak or what I thought could be an outbreak. I am pretty familiar with my body. Anyway, I decided better to be safe than sorry, so I went on daily suppressive valtrex. I also disclosed my postive result with potential partners. It has been a couple of years, and during a routine physical, I asked for another herpes test. I was pretty astonished that few physicians give herpes tests (blood tests) unless it is a clear case of physical symptoms. anyway, i was given one and tested positive with a numeric value of 2.45, Does this mean anything? I have never had outbreaks. Granted, I am on daily suppressive therapy. Thanks for any help or suggestions. I fear going off suppressive therapy, because if i assymptomatically shed, I don't want my husband to have to deal with outbreaks potentially (he knows of my status).View Thread
A few days afterwards I have been having stomach pain when I swallow food in my upper right quadrant. Perhaps it has no connection....but is it possible to contract other diseases or viruses through kissing? I know that it is possible to contract MONO, so that I am aware. Since my stomach has been bothering me I have been concerned that I could have gotten H Pylori...the bacteria that infects the stomach.
Should I get screened for anything particular...and if so how long should I wait to get tested for anything.
Any input would be much appreciated.View Thread
My understanding is that Yeast Infection is a misnomer. We all have yeast present and it is merely environmental changes that allow them to proliferate.
My wife and I are both vegetarian. We do consume a fair amount of sugar, but probably less than the average American. We are both 37 with no record of STDs.
Can anybody advise me on what we should do?View Thread
