My Story:
I am a 27-year-old female with genital HSV1. I was diagnosed in December 2009 with a positive culture and negative IgG blood test. I was not having intercourse with my boyfriend at the time, so this result was not unexpected. He carries the virus orally, but has never had a cold sore. Still, I contracted the virus. I am now single and do not plan to have children.

I have had limited sexual partners, all long term relationships, all tested for STDs/HIV. I am vigilant about my sexual health - probably due in part to a little OCD;) I am independent, smart, masters educated, own my own home, work full time etc. This really can happen to anyone! I am just praying that this does not effect my future relationships. I have researched HSV extensively and highly recommend Terri Warren's Handbook available at Westover Clinic online and her book "The Good News About the Bad News". This exchange is an invaluable resource for those looking for answers and those of us who find strength in providing them.
