I really appreciate your comments. I inquired about my test and was told that I am negative for both HSV I and II. The lab indicated that nothing was found for either, therefore no need to retest unless I have another sexual experience. I asked about the specific test and they just said that it was not necessary because no indications of either were found in my blood.View Thread
I asked my doctor for some general STD tests, and I am concerned about the Herpes test ordered. I went to labcorp and got a "Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Types 1/2, IgG Evaluation With Reflex to Herpes Type 1-/2- Specific, IgG"
I've seen on some other forums where this is a worthless test, because they do a non-specific combo and if you're negative no further testing (specific) is warranted. If I am negative on the combo portion and since they don't run the specific tests on each, I might actually not be negative? I am so confused on this.View Thread
The other night, while at a club, a woman of unknown STD status unexpectedly kissed me twice on the lips. The kisses were closed-mouthed, lasted a second or two, but were rather hard feeling. My lips were extremely chapped that night and cracked/flaking. They did not bleed throughout the day or night that I am aware of, but I noticed you could see a deeper red (almost like blood) in the cracks made from the flaking. I also had a canker sore inside my mouth. I've read where kissing is never a risk for HIV infection or really any other STD's. I am concerned, however, that my chapped lips put me at high risk. I didn't notice any odd spots on her lips, but I really didnt pay much attention. I am usually pretty OCD about things though, so I'm sure I would have been hyper-aware if I did notice anything. I'm just not remembering now.
Could I get HIV or any other STD (Herpes, Syphilis, etc.) from this incident? Should I be tested?View Thread
