So I'm 30 and generally a healthy guy who keeps in shape. No previous health issues to speak of. I recently slept with a girl I had been seeing a couple of times - on one occasion we started with a condom that broke but continued the sex anyway. I also gave oral sex on one occasion as well.
About 4 days after first sleeping with her I woke up with some pretty weird symptoms. I had typical flu like symptoms. Feeling generally average, very sore throat, aches pains and general lethargy but I also found I also had unexplained lower back pain which persisted for nearly a week. Right at the base of the spine in like the syatic region. I've had some pain there before after intense exercise but in this case I had done nothing active that would warrant the pain.
I also started to experience a very weird "itching" or "tickling" sensation all over my body. Not on my genital area specifically though I might on occasion feel something there it was more all over my body. Almost like someone was tickling me with a feather in random spots - neck, back, legs, feet, arms - pretty much anywhere on my body. Then I got a weird rash break out on my arm. It was a round red spot on the inside of my forearm about the size of a tennis ball. It actually felt like a bruise if I touched it. Like there was muscle pain if you applied pressure but it was definitely a rash and also itchy.
I then started getting a mild burning, tingling, numb sensation on my mouth. It affects the left side of my tongue and specific spots on my lips. Almost like what I would imagine a cold sore would feel like coming on and matched what I have read for those symtoms. On my lips I almost feel like something is going to appear - the lip surface almost feels "rough" at that location but nothing appears. Just the burning tingling sensation.
I started freaking out and went to the doctor. Explained the symptoms also advised I had just started a sexual relationship with a new partner. The doctor went through a few things basically said it was not herpes as that the symptoms didn't fit and herpes doesn't appear on the arm and that the rash on my arm did not look like a herpes rash. I asked for a blood test just to be safe and she literally told me it would be a waste of time and that it sounded like I had a standard viral infection maybe coupled with an allergic reaction to something that was causing the rash and itching. She tested me for Gonarea and Chlamydia instead which both came back clean. She said to monitor and see if the itching symptoms persisted and try and observe if there was anything I was coming into contact that might be triggering the itching or rash.
The flu like symptoms disappeared but I still have some mild back pain and the itching and burning sensation in my mouth. I then got what seemed like jock itch over the weekend. Dry itchy flaky skin on my scrotum. No sores but the skin on my scrotum was irritated. I have had something similar on the very odd occasion before after exercise etc. It happened after a friends party where I slept at their house and stayed in the same clothes and underwear for about a day and a half until so I wasnt sure if that was the cause. The flaky irritated skin cleared up in a couple of days and is now back to normal.
The itchiness and burning mouth symptoms though have been persistent for the last 2+ weeks and I just don't know how to explain them. I'm going to go back to the doctor tmr but anyone have any idea what this could be. The flu symptoms, sore lower back, itchiness, tingling lip mouth all match with what I read for herpes prodrom symptoms ... but I haven't had any sores. I'm terrified I have contracted herpes but just some what asymptomatic and have just not had a proper outbreak. Can that happen .... Anyone got any ideas on what this could be ?View Thread
