You have taken the first step by reaching out on this board. Talking with others and research wil be very helpful. I felt ashamed, dirty, angry as most people do. I have the disease for almost 20 yrs. and I am still embarrassed about it.
Check with your medical insurance company, some of them provide a health expert line. They can provide you with information and sometimes counseling. There are precautions that you and your husband can take to keep from infecting him. My husband and I have been together for 6 yrs so I obviously had to inform him prior to any sexual contact. He is also very understanding and supportive. You and your husband must work together.
I may not have provided any real answers but wanted to let you know that someone is listening.
From what I have read, if your husband had a cold sore (type 1) and performed oral sex on you - you could develop genital herpes (type 2). I believe this is how I received genital herpes. For me, it was from a boyfriend. And when the dr told me; I felt ashamed, dirty and angry.
Do some research on WebMD to gather more information. Hope you find your answers. DebbieView Thread
