In every procedure I've had- biopsy or surgery- the doctor has injected a painkiller at the site, so I didn't really feel a thing. So don't worry about pain- it really isn't a factor. Skin cancer in the long run, is a lot more painful.

I love the outdoors too much to give it up. Being on a beach or in a boat are the happiest times of my life! I can't give them up, but I can use sunscreen while I enjoy the outdoors. And so can you!

After the spot on my face came and went several times in the period of a few months, a makeup artist suggested I go to the dermatologist. I am sure glad I did! So the lesson to be learned: check anything that looks suspicious!

I would say that I am a lot more careful now with my skin. I am more vigilant about it and now I get any unusual mole or skin marking checked out and I also use sunscreen regularly!

Both of my grandfathers passed away from lung cancer - and my father had a history of skin cancer. My father passed away from cancer last year - although a different form, not skin cancer. So yes, it has been an issue in my family.
