I tried to post this under the medication review section, but got a 404 error. I really wanted to share this info after seeing how many people have went through the exact same thing I've been dealing with for almost three decades, so I joined over here to post and share. I hope I can help at least one person and if it works for you, help another, and maybe they'll help another and maybe one day we can get this info to doctors and EVERYONE can get some help instead of the run around for decades and decades!!! If this works, be sure and pass it on.... Thanks again! JView Thread
Hi All! I've been dealing with tinea versicolor for 28 years (since I was 11 years old). Since I've never had health insurance, it's been hard to find a doctor willing to do more than suggest the otc shampoos or the rx'ed 2.5% stuff or other otc creams, etc. I've tried just about everything, even gentian violet (which worked for a little while, but turned everything I touched purple. After some other hormone related health issues and a uterine biopsy (-C!), I finally DEMANDED some help with this nasty fungus. It's always ebbed and flowed, but now is worse than I've ever had it before. I think it may be related to my hormonal issues, but still waiting on (more) lab results. Anyways, doc finally put me on ketoconazole 200mg/day. I'm only on my 3rd dose and it seems to be making my spots very angry. I'm applying miconazole cream and it seems to help with the itching. The reason I'm reviewing this med so early in my treatment is that I've read my story here over and over and wanted to help. I read somewhere else that a lady (very similar to my situation) had great results with the same dose of ketoconazole, but it, OF COURSE CAME BACK!! She said after her second 6 week treatment she began taking Apple Cider Vinegar pills and it's been 3 years and she's been TINEA FREE!!!! I'm going to try the same thing, and as apple cider vinegar is good for all kinds of other health issues, I certainly can't see it hurting anything. So, if you, like so many of us out there are sick of enduring treatment after treatment only to have the nasty, itchy, disgusting, and unsightly spots come back, try this med for 6-8 weeks and then take apple cider vinegar pills. I'm on my way to shop for some online RIGHT NOW! I hope it helps me and I hope it helps everyone out there dealing with this horrible condition. And I want to say thank you so much to the woman who shared her story on a different website! God Bless you dear! Never give up your research and never take your doctor's word as the last word! Good Luck! JaniceView Thread
