Ive had the exact same issue for over 20 years.
When I shower, get out of pool, sea my legs get itchy for 15 to 20 minutes. Really, really itchy. If I start to scratch them they get worse but it almost impossible not to scratch.
I was told it was in my head - I am so glad to see I'm not alone and others have same issue. My wife calls it itchy leg.
I have however found a solution which works almost perfectly for me. For me its about the temperature and the rate at which my legs cool down. If I get out of a shower (or any water) that is a little cool then I will get "itchy leg".
My solution is to have hot shower - and spray hot water on legs prior to getting out of shower - I'm not talking about painfully hot, but hot enough to cause skin to go pink if left under spray. I then get out of shower and immediately pat dry legs, then torso and hair. Then without delay I put on clothing to cover legs, then torso and keep body warm. The clothing allows the skin to cool down to room temperature at a slower rate and I dont get itchy leg.
If shower is too cool - such as sometimes happens at my gym or pool then body is cold getting out and dry and I will get the itchy legs..without fail. For me it all about temperature.
A previous poster stated that they get back into bed for 20 minutes to solve it, yes Ive done that too and it also can help if the itches have happened, but with my method - I dont get itchy in the first place.
In hot dry climate - when I go on vacation - I never seem to suffer from it. Its got to do with rate of temperature change on skin.
