2) Dad accidentally stepped on the top of his son's right foot (about half-way between ankle and toes) - near the front of his foot
3) The next day, his son ran a mile race at school (pretty quickly; wanted to win!)
4) That's when it really started hurting. His mom was with him about 1/2 hr and he was totally on the heel of his foot and didn't want any pressure on the ball of his foot
5) It hurts on the ball of his foot
6) The top hurts only when you press down on it
7) There is no swelling or discoloration
The mom emailed the soccer coach and he said he would probably take his own son in just to make sure something isn't cracked. The mom said she will probably make an appointment for tomorrow if it isn't much better by tomorrow.

This can be the only cause of injury that she is aware of. There are no puncture wounds indicating a bug bite.
I was just concerned, because, like I said earlier, I have never seen this type of bruise before. Does anyone have any ideas or if I should even be concerned? She does have full use of her arm.
Thanks!View Thread
Last week 5-14, I was playing basketball, as I was cutting to the basket I felt as if someone hit a line drive (baseball) right at my calf. I RICED my calf for the first week and I can walk but I still feel some discomfort. Should I consider getting an MRI? I have strained my calf before, but never torn. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Now me being an athlete, I love contact sports. I play football, and rugby. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to go ahead with this surgery to avoid injuries in the future (Note: I broke it when I was 1 1/2 but it was on the other side) or just go through the 8 week recovery?

Noticed a bruise where the tendon attaches to the shin bone. No big deal. Well, now the tendon is doing that "flip flop" thing again, and there is a decent amount of swelling at the top of the ankle. I don't know whether to be worried and go see the doc (and I'm really not in a good situation to have surgery again, as I just started a new job), or do what the doc did to begin with and just put on a removable cast that I already own and keep it immobile for a while and hope that helps.
Any suggestions??View Thread
in my hips and feet, mostly toes.i also get severe, painful spasms in my
quads later in the day.Is this due to dehydydration,or can i take a supplement to help?I am at my wits end.Can you help?View Thread
I did not have much of a choice, but to walk on it due to the logistics of getting around. I live on a remote island, with a steep and rocky beach to traverse, and use a small runabout boat to commute to the dock in town for going to work.
Now, in the 2nd week I have tried limiting my weight-bearing - attempted again to use crutches in town and at work. After 3 days, my hands (CTS), upper-body and neck could no longer handle it. I switched to a walker (with almost no w.b.) and that was a little better. However, I cannot maneuver at work with the walker; the corridors and doorways where I have to work are not adequately clear or sized, definitely not ADA. I informed my supervisor that I would not be to work until after I see the Doctor next week for a follow-up and have been placed on FMLA.
Do you think that my walking on it for the first week has prevented or delayed the fracture's healing?View Thread

was a cantalope and now a softball. My family
has let me sleep downstairs because I'm unable
get up there. I get exhausted with my cruthches.
But I know I need them. There is no way I could drive. Even now. Today I was able to slowly get my heal flat on the foot for ten seconds. Which tells me I have to be getting better.
My question's:
1.Why is my foot so pale, toes light bluish, but not bruised,
2.Will the swelling really go away? Is that when I should be able try to do excercises. Move it
3.blood clots concern me because the swelling has caused so many bulges in my veins.
Sorry so long.View Thread
I have seen an orthopedist, or rather his P.A. After palpating briefly I was told I just had minor strain or pull and that it would heal on it's own in a few weeks. That was 3 months ago. No improvement, in fact getting a little worse.
I exercise daily and am quite physically active. I have strained and pulled each of my hamstrinigs severely in the last 15 years or so.However I don't recall any recent sports or activity related injury.View Thread

The exercises seem to be largely flexion, such as pull ups. The pain will subside mostly, but the swelling remains.
1. Is this normal?
2. What can I do to recover faster or mitigate the swelling?
Thanks in advance.View Thread
Also, my shoes are worn completely down, especially my other leg. It's like now my gait is off. It's like I"ve been compensating for a year and can't even walk right anymore.
I started trying to lose weight and started exercising earlier this year. Things were going pretty good. My PF was clearing up again, but it just keeps coming back. How can I lose weight if I can't even go for walks?? Or do any kind of exercising b/c of pressure on my foot. I also develop shin splints only in my right leg....probably b/c I'm putting more pressure on that leg than the leg with PF.
Very frustrated right now. I think I need Physical Therapy, but I'm afraid it'll just be another dead end. I'm tired of throwing money down and not getting a resolution.
Help me! Please. I also have heard about the PRP injections, but that they are super expensive and insurance doesn't cover them. But if it really does work I'm willing to try anything so I can get back to exercising again and losing weight. I also use to be a runner. I haven't ran in over a year, mainly b/c of this problem.View Thread
