On 2/17/12 I sustained a Tibial Plateau Fracture w/ a fairly large depressed fragment. I had surgery on the same date to install a external fixator. On 3/2/12 I went in to have my lovely metal bar (fixator) removed and have my tibial plateau repaired with pins and plates, he also filled in the depression with what he described as a "coral" like substance.
Overall, the recovery process has gone well, the swelling has begun to go down, I am pretty mobile on crutches and have over 100 degree movement in my leg/knee - though I do have a bit of popping/clicking in my knee (not painful). This process has not gone without a few "screw ups" though. I have tripped on my crutches and accidentally put weight on my leg, which is a no-no! This hurts for a little while, but never stays sore for more than a day.
My question is - What is a Late Collapse, would I know if this happened to me during one of my "screw-ups"?
Also, I'll be 8 weeks post op on my next appointment 5/3/12, is it possible that I will be released to start PT and possibly walk, or can I expect to ride out the normal 12 weeks?
