My daughter was diagnosed with severe Crohn's (throughout her entire colon) several years ago. Ulcerative colitis, severe heartburn also appear. She has tried a variety of medications and treatments before being put on infusion treatments. The infusions relieve her symptoms for a while. However, they are very expensive. She has been on disability for other reasons since the age of 20. Now that her father is on social security she went from SSI to SS which provides her with Medicare. She was receiving Medicaid insurance and had no medical bills to speak of. However, she has decided that she cannot sit and do nothing throughout life and has found a job that she likes and is able to do when not suffering fromCrohn's symptoms. Because of the job, her income went up and her Medicaid was taken away. Now, the infusions require a $600 copay. She cannot afford that, nor can we. She was told she could purchase medical insurance--- she cannot afford to do that now that she does not receive assistance with food. Her frustration is- Does she quit working and live off the government -- or is there help out there somewhere for Crohn's sufferers who are not wealthy. Infusions are VERY expensive!View Thread
