I just want to encourage everyone to never give up on being a mom, one way or another. After two long years of trying and a lot of faith in my RE, I got my BFP. I'm so grateful for this board, everyone here really helped me through some pretty dark days. Hugs and baby dust to all!View Thread

Hi there curious,
I too take Metformin and I had some serious issues with it for the first couple weeks. A big part of the way it reacts has to do with what you eat. I found that even eating smaller portions of the "wrong" foods that I just couldn't give up helped ease the side effects. Also, I take the extended release now and take all three pills at bed time; that has seemed to help too. Did they do a glucose test to decide what dose to have you on? I really don't have problems with many medications, so maybe it's more of a matter of sensitivity to things for you. I would go to your doctor and see what suggestions they have. Maybe they would be willing to ease you into a higher dose instead of starting you on three pills a day. Good luck to you!View Thread

I am on cycle day 22, at the doctor yesterday I had one follicle measuring just over 16 and my E2 level was only at 52. I've been taking follistim injections since CD3 and I'm really having a hard time with the fact that I don't have any "real" results yet. I feel like they are still being pretty conservative with my dose of follistim; they started me @ 75/day and have now bumped me up to 87. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm really wondering why they haven't increased my dosage more.View Thread

I was very lucky as far as the actual diagnosis goes. My older sister had just concieved her first child with the help of the same OB I was seeing. Since she had been diagnosed with PCOS they didn't even question that it was my issue as well. They got me started on Metformin and Clomid right away.View Thread

I know exactly what you mean about being fed up with the people around you who don't understand where you are right now. I haven't had anyone be so blatently insensitive like your friend on facebook. That's just terrible. I hope she at least apologized to you. It sucks having people around you get pregnant so easily. Both my sister and sister-in-law have had their second baby within the last 7 weeks. I'm glad that they are at least sensitive to my feelings (mostly), but it is still so hard to watch other women have babies so easily! I think you are definitely in the right place for some thoughtful feedback from an empathetic audience.
Best of luck to you!View Thread

I'm sorry to hear that you have PCOS, but at least it is a diagnosis. Knowing the problem with infertility can be half the battle. I have activley been trying to conceive with PCOS since October of 2009. I know how hard it can be to stay positive. I was on clomid then femara with my ob/gyn, after a few months of nothing he referred me to an RE who started me on Femara and we've now moved on to Follistim injections. I've been on metformin at various doses the entire time as well. I'm really hoping that the follistim will do the trick for us.
Best of luck to you and try to keep your head up:)View Thread

Today is day 22 for me and I have yet to have a mature follicle on ultrasound! I took Femera on days 3-8 then started Follistim on day 4. I've had 5 ultrasounds all together and still nothing! They drew blood today and compared to the lab work from Monday my estradiol level actually dropped. I'm supposed to stop taking the shots for now until DH and I meet with the doctor on Monday. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm sort of at a loss

I've done many cycles on Femara and always ovulated, but this last time it didn't even get me that far. My RE suggested moving on to injectables and I just got the prior approval from my insurance! Started my 10 day round of Prometrium to jump start this cycle then will start the shots on day 3. I'm not sure whether they are going with Follistim or Bravelle. Does any one know anything about combining the shots with the Femara? Due to pharmacy error I have some Femara on hand and was wondering about using both medications. Also any side effects or other experience/knowledge about the injectables would be appreciated. Thank you!View Thread

After a visit to my doctor I have ended up combining Femara and Follistim for this cycle. I took my usual 5 days of Femara and started my shots last Friday. I love my insurance, my co-pay per cartridge is only $40 (I pay the same for the Femara). They have me on a low dose of the Follistim and I went back yesterday for a scan. She measured 2 follicles (I'm assuming they looked like the front runners) and said my lining was looking good. I'll keep doing the shots through Wednesday night and go back for another scan on Thursday. Hopefully they'll tell me I'm ready to trigger and then head home and BD like crazy
. I'm trying not to be to hopeful but I feel pretty good about this cycle. Thanks to everyone for your advice and support! Best of luck to you too Amanda!!View Thread
