Last week I had surgery to remove a cyst on an ovary. It turned out to be an endometrioma and according to my doctor I was loaded with endometriosis and ended up losing the entire ovary and tube.
She now suggests going on a Lupron treatment to let my body rest and then she'll hook us up with a fertility specialist to help us get pregnant.
I was wondering if anyone else had this similar treatment process. I'm very nervous about the lupron because everything I read about it and then trying to conceive mentions IVF.
My second question is if anyone had lupron and then got pregnant via any other method (even if it was a less invasive fertility treatment).
We have one child and were able to conceive him quite easily (3 months off BC w/o any charting at all).
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response. At my post-op appt. my gyn gave me the name of a fertility specialist to speak to. She figured it would take several months to get an appt. and wanted to start me on the lupron (as I said before). Fortunately for me, I needed to start the lupron when I got my period and it came about 2 days before this appt. so I had a month before I needed to do anything. The awesome news is, that it didn't take months for me to meet with the RE, it only took 2 weeks (and that's because I couldn't do the first appt. they were giving me only a week away from my call).
It's a good thing I didn't do the Lupron because of the testing results that my RE found. She said the lupron would actually make it harder for me instead of it being better because of the condition of my egg supply.
Long story short, I start my injections tomorrow for my first round of IVF. Only 1 1/2 months from my first RE appt. and I'm only about 2 weeks away from having the procedure to remove my eggs!
I'm so excited and nervous!

My husband got pregnant with relative ease our first time and have been trying for 2 years. Our son's now 4 and we're starting the process with a fertility specialist. I have very recently been diagnosed with, and undergone surgery for, endometriosis. I'm not saying that's what you have at all. I'm just saying I understand your frustration.
What concerns me most about your post isn't the "not getting pregnant yet" part, but the fact that you're so worried about disappointing your family. You need to tell them that they are causing you undue stress, and that that could be affecting your success.
My suggestion is to relax, don't worry about your family. Your next little one will come when s/he is ready. It's all about what's right for you, your husband, and your first child...not the rest of them.
Best of luck!View Thread

The reason I replied is because someone on this exchange once wrote something that makes those feelings of everyone else being pregnant. She wrote that while yes, there are a lot of people pregnant, we don't know what their story is. We don't know how long it took them to get their positive test result. So now, I look at those strangers that are pregnant and think "there's hope for me because they did it" and pretend that they all had some challenges like me, thus using them for inspiration, rather than thinking that they are the lucky ones.
Best of luck to you both! And to the poster...what has your doctor said about you not having a period in so long? You definitely need to see a physician to get that worked out.View Thread

Thank you Crooklyn for posting! Best of luck to all of you. I think it would be great to be able to check in with one another here now and again. I imagine that we will all need to chat with others having the same experiences! Especially since we all seem to be near the beginning of this IVF journey.View Thread

Does it appear to be a normal cycle for you, or is it different? Mine was definitely lighter than normal and didn't last as long.
Best of luck to you! I hope it was implantation bleeding and not your period!View Thread

So my husband and I met with a fertility doctor today for the first time. It was a great appointment and we left there feeling very hopeful that we will be having another baby soon. She told me not to proceed with the lupron treatment my gyno wanted me to do and has scheduled a clomid challenge which should take place next week when my cycle should start.
My question is for anyone that is going or has gone through IVF (this is the route she has recommended). How soon after your clomid challenge did your first IVF cycle take place? To be more specific, I am due to start my cycle next week, which means I will be doing some bloodwork on day 3, taking clomid days 5-9, having a day 10 bloodwork done and then a hysteroscope (sp). My husband is having a semen analysis done at the same time. Could I conceivably begin the IVF cycle on my next menstrual cycle?
Thanks for any input!View Thread

Best of luck to you! Keep us posted...it will happen!View Thread

I don't think it would be too far a stretch for you to talk to your doctor about this...he/she can run some simple blood tests to start, just to see if they can figure out the reason for you not being pregnant yet!
Best of luck to you!View Thread
