Hi I'm Lindsey... This will probably be kind of a long post as I cant seem to find exact situations and symptoms on any sight! So I'm still learning all the language of the TTC world so bare with me! I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 17.. I'm 24 now. I have one child he is almost 4. So I have always had irregular periods since I started at the age of 9. My first period was really light and lasted a week and then I didn't have another period for over a year. Fast forward to age 19 I met my husband, then bf, I had a consistent normal period for three months in a row. I got pregnant right after that. Last year starting in September through March of this year (7 months) I had consistent, regular, start same day each month lasted 6 days periods. That is THE longest I have ever had consistent cycles ever. Ever ever. So I thought maybe I was pregnant( even after I was still getting negative hpts into April and may bc I didn't show on any tests hpts hospital tests blood tests anything with my son until I was 10 weeks along). Finally I made a Dr appointment and they did a blood pg test checked my thyroid levels prolactin to levels and a few other tests. The pg test was negative and they said everything else was normal. Then they called me back minutes later to say my pap was irregular and I needed a colposcopy done. They said I was disease free and it wasn't cancerous. The gyn wanted me to start provera ( for being 3 months with no period) to start a bleed. I ended up starting a couple days later without the pro era. It was a normal person 6 days not too light or heavy. So I was trying to use period tracker to see when I would ovulate and I was "supposed" to ovulate 21days ago. The app said I would get my period on july31.. But it never came. I've had few slight pg symptoms but am realm unsure. My cm has been clear and watery and sometimes I have small gushes of the cm. I had tenderness in the nipples slightly and have a swollen montgomery tubercle. Had tenderness on the side of one of my breasts one day. Have lots of little pokes and pinches pains on lower abdomen never lasting more than a few seconds and not really painful just..there. Have had an aching almost crampy but not..lol..in my middle back all week. Had a couple instances where lower back felt like period cramping but only lasted a few minutes and wash as intense as it normally is when I get my period. Slight nausea.. Not really pukey or upset stomach just a really blah feeling in my stomach. I've been extremely tired all the time by I thought it was from depression as I started taking Prozac. Although the tiredness has been by far nor extreme the past week when I get home from work I have to nap cannot stay awake at all. Also idkif this means anything at all but I've had dreams the past few days and I mean everytime I fall asleep and previously I hadn't had a single dream in probably 2 years. I took a hpt about 3 days ago and it was negative.. Very disheartening. I'm starting to feel like I will never have another baby. I love my son with my whole heart but I've always wanted child(ren) and it just seems so unfair to me that this is happening to me but there are so many women who shouldn't have children but are fertile myrtle. Also been experiencing headaches and at times extremely cranky..sometimes a bit psychotic... 😌. Its hard to compare to my first (and only) pregnancy BC I had mono and at least the first 1/2 of the pregnancy was horrible and I remember not having "morning sickness" but I got the flu about five different times during the whole pregnancy. Maybe someone out there can help me with my issue. Not really feeling stressed about it just feeling like my body is a b*tch and she is always playing tricks on me...View Thread
Hi my name is Mary, I'm new to this group but thought it might help in this journey to have others to talk to who understand what I'm going through. I'm 25 yrs old soon to be 26. I got married three years ago and have been TTC for almost all of those three years. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 years old and at the time didn't understand how bad that diagnosis could be when it comes to getting pregnant. I don't have health insurance to cover any kind of infertility treatment nor the funds to go that route. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas I could talk to my doctor about? I've heard of metformin and was on that for the Metabolic syndrome, and spironalactone for having too much testosterone. I've heard of Clomid also but I've heard that only works if your cycles are regular? I've gone two years without AF, thats the longest and I can't seem to pinpoint what makes me get it for three months normally and then for it to not show for a few months at a time. I'm finding it extremely difficult to lose weight as I've heard that can also help. I also wanted to know if anyone had any advice to help deal with the mix of emotions you have when someone very close to you gets pregnant? I'm having a hard time not feeling guilty for the green monster that rises up when I so desperately want to be happy for them. Sometimes I can push the happy congratulations through and other times I can't shake off the why can't that be me? Why can they have a baby without trying. My family tries to be supportive but they don't really understand where I'm coming from either. I appreciate any kind of advice and Thank you for taking the time to read this. It helps to know I'm not alone. View Thread
Looking for women out there with PCOS who've taken Femara more than 2 months, and have increased the dosage after at least 2 months on a consistent dose. I'm curious about how this changed your ovulation timing, symptoms, etc.View Thread
My husband and I are trying to have a little one. Today I went to our local clinic where I meet with a doctor who specializes in women. She stated that I am not ovulating and I have PSOC. She put me on provera again after the first dosage of three months failed. She also put me on metformin where I take them three times a day. The provera she ordered to be taken once a day for twelve days in which this time I take two pills. I also have to take prenatal vitamins which I do the gummy kind because swallowing four pulls a day or 6 would be to much. My question is is there any hope for pregnancy in my future. Is this medicine pointless. My mother in law wants me to get a second opinion, but I'm just hopeless. She even stated that my weight may be an issue to, but my little sister is bigger than me and she's had two babies . What to do?View Thread
I am 27 years old and have been TTC for about 6 months now. I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I am currently dieting, taking prenatal vitamins and metformin twice daly. After doing lots of research and reading blogs I have found how common this condition is. I was hoping to start ths post to hear others stories and tips!!!
I myself have been told so far by friends* (not physicians) to try accupuncture and also Pre-Seed lubricant.
Hi everyone! I was part of this community a few years ago under the user name Jessi10909 but was unable to retrieve my password so started a new account lol I'm excited to see some familiar and new names and hope that the familiar names have had success in the past few years! My wonderful son Kellan was born 4/13/12 (used Clomid) after more than 4 years of ttc with pcos. The pregnancy was miserable and his birth was traumatizing but here we go again! I start my first round of Clomid today so thought of this group and wanted to catch up!View Thread
Brown discharge 9 days after period.
Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for a year now with our first child. I am taking provera to start my periods. My last dosage of provera was on March 7. Peroid came on March 10, and ended on the 16th . We had sex on the 16th and 18th. Yesterday March 23 ,I starting seeing light pink/brownish discharge and today I have just seen light brown discharge and slightly cramping. Could this be implantation bleeding?? If so, when should I take a pregnancy test?? Thanxs in advance.
-Second round on Provera ( period came on 3 days after last pill)
-Have not been diagnosed with PCOSView Thread
Hi Everyone! My name is Angie. I'm 35 years old, been TTC for about 15 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS at around age 18 and have been re-tested for it several times since then with same result. I did get pregnant once using Clomid however that pregnancy ended in miscarriage (at 19 weeks ). After that, I did 6 unsuccessful rounds of IUI using injectables. My periods have always been sproadic - every 3-4 months and lasting up to 14 days. In the last year, I have lost about 40 pounds which to my surprise has helped regulate my periods. I went to a 38-40 day cycle with periods lasting only 7 or 8 days! Yay! I have lost my infertility insurance so decided to try something new. I took Vitex (80mg) last month and had a 24 day cycle! I have come across another supplement called Fertility Blend from GNC. I've only been taking it for about a week but have read some very inspiring stories about it. Looking for any success or non-successful stories from any of you that have tried it. Thanks so much!View Thread

Well, I'm new to all of this.we have been TTC for about 6 months. I was diagnosed with PCOS in April. I have none of the visual signs of PCOS so you could say I was shocked. My cycles have always been regular until Dec, then I went 3 months without anything. Ever since April, I've been regular at about 35 days. I go tomorrow to meet with my doctor and hope to be put on Clomid. Anyone else out there with what I've heard termed "skinny pcos"? I find myself depressed at times and constantly wondering why me. Prayer helps but still doubt creeps in. Would appreciate any information or support. Thanks in advance.View Thread
I been thinking about you a lot and would to hear an update from you. I'm so anxious to hear how things are going. Praying that all is well.
I just thought I would let you know, I made the decision to stop Metformin. I haven't taken it for about two weeks now. I have no idea if I made the right decision or not. I didn't see much point in continuing it. We will not be pursuing any RE appts any more. I never thought it made much difference with my cycles, and never have gotten pregnant on it in hopes it would reduce the miscarriage rate.View Thread
Prayforamiracle-Me(37)PCOS Dh(44)MFI TTC since 11/06. Only pregnancy ended in loss in July 2007. On 1500mg of Metformin. 1st IUI 1/12=BFN, 2nd IUI 2/12=BFN
My husband and I have been together for almost 5 1/2 years, married for over 4 years and 8 months. We weren’t exactly ttc, but we have been having unprotected sex since the very first time we had sex with each other. He let me know from the very beginning that he wanted to get me pregnant, but at only 19 years old I felt like I was way too young for such a big responsibility. I actually started secretly taking my BC again, to be sure I didn’t get pregnant. Sneaky snake, I know. The thought of having kids with him did start to grow on me after a while and I eventually stopped taking BC.
My cycles have been irregular ever since I first met Aunt Flow. Because of that, I wasn’t surprised that my AF stopped coming right after I got off my pills. It did eventually come back, though still not regulated. Months passed, still no pregnancy. I wasn’t too concerned at this point, I just figured it was because my cycles weren’t regular. Plus, we were living in Memphis at the time and I really didn’t want to have to raise a child in that area.
I gained a lot of weight while living in Memphis, about 10 to 20 lbs more than my max weight in Cali. I felt disgusted with myself, so I started working out again. I dropped back down to 105 lbs, the weight I was before I got married. That’s when my AF stopped coming. I checked with a doctor and she said my absent cycles were due to my massive weight loss.
During the next few months, I got myself up to a much “healthier†weight of 115 per doctor’s orders. After a few months, I still had no signs of AF. I scheduled another doctor’s appointment and that’s when my life turned to hell.
After MANY blood tests and ultrasounds, I was diagnosed with PCOS in late November/early December of 2012. I finally knew why my cycles were so irregular, which was somewhat of a relief. At the same time, I was devastated because of the confirmation that I could possibly never conceive naturally. I was still on the fence about whether or not this was the right time to have kids, but it would have been nice to know that it could happen when the time came. My husband had a semen analysis done that came out damn near perfect, so now we knew the focus had to be on me and my body.
Mid-December, I started my first round of fertility treatments. I was given medroxyprogesterone to start my AF, then started my first round of clomid at 50mg. As advised by my doctor, I tracked my ovulation every single day. My body had no response. My next check-up wasn’t until 2 months late, so of course I was anxious.
February was round two. I was given medroxyprogesterone again and this time at 100mg. I had my next check-up entirely too early, IMO, about 2 weeks after my AF. A lot of women ovulate later when taking clomid, so of course I didn’t test positive for a pregnancy at my check-up. So my doctor prescribed me another round of treatments. Medroxyprogesterone and 150mg clomid.
I ended up ovulating the day after my check-up, or at least I think I did. My test could have been wrong. I started taking the medroxyprogesterone anyway, to get my AF started just in case.
The last few times I took medroxyprogesterone, my AF came 4 days after my last pill with light spotting the day before. This last round, my AF didn’t come on time. That definitely got my hopes up way too high. I got excited and thought maybe I was finally pregnant. I chose to wait another week before I actually took a pregnancy test, though. That wait didn’t last too long. Three days after my expected AF, I started getting really bad cramps and the very next day my visitor came. It only lasted about 2 days, and clumped more than flowed (TMI, I know. I apologize). With the high rate of miscarriage in women who have PCOS, I went into panic mode. I definitely had the symptoms of a miscarriage, all I had to do was test to see if I was carrying the “baby hormone.â€View Thread
I was dx with PCOS in 2011. I have made positive lifestyle changes but obviously not perfect. I had a bad addiction to carbs! I am much better now than I used to be. I take Metformin but I often skip doses because of the side effects (I know, bad!) I am still not ovulating consistently and AF comes maybe 3 times per year.
My DH & I have been TTC since we got married in January 2011.
I am starting Clomid in May and I am super nervous! What was it like ladies? Did it work for you?
I wanted to introduce my self. I am 31 mother to 3 beautiful little girls ages 5, and twins that are 3. I have always had crazy cycles and was able to get my girls after several rounds of clomid. I found out today I have confirmed PCOS. We have done 5 rounds of clomid searching for our last little one with no success. I am now on Femera day 5 and will do injections day 7,9,11. I am looking for any advice or hope that my body will work one last time and how to deal with PCOS. I am not overweight and cant really find much to help but lose weight which I cant do. My doctor said she wanted to wait till next cycle to try metformin. Would it not help to take it now? Any advice you can give would be great.
Hi all, I have had PCOS for around 10 years. My husband and I have been TTC for over a year. My doctor had put me on Metformin and provera and clomid. My first cycle she said I didn't ovulate. This cycle I went in on day 12 and she said I wasn't ovualting. She has been wanting me to take 1000mg of metformin but I get sick from it. So he only has me take half a pill in the morning and half in the evening. She says she is uping my clomid to 150mg. Back two years ago with my first husband I was with a different doctor and I would ovualte on day 16 but this cycle I didn't or at least the Ovualtion test said i didn't.
Is there anything I can do to help my body ovulate? I am really worried about this.View Thread
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I have had PCOS since i was 18. My doctor started me on the provera and clomid. I took them as I was suppose to. The clomid is 100mg for cycle days 5-9. On day 23 of my cycle I spotted. Not enough to show up on a pad but enough to see when wiping. I am not having any other things go on. Should I wait longer than 30 cycle days to test for Pregnancy or just do it then.View Thread
Hello, It's been a while since I posted but I've checked regularly to see if anything is going on. Prayforamiracle, I've thought of you often and hope you're doing well. I know the last time we spoke you were going through a rough patch. I really hope things have gotten better for you. As for me things have been a little crazy. We had 3 failed IVF, first one resulting in a chemical pregnancy. Then I had lap and hysteroscopy and we hoped that would be the answer for our third IVF but it wasn't. After the last IVF we had decided that we were done with IVF even though we still have a blast frozen. It was a lot of money each time and we weren't getting anywhere. RE said he thinks I need to get pregnant to fix the problem. He couldn't get the blast in without making me bleed. So anyways, DH and I decided that we would go back to IUI, take our time and in the mean time start the adoption process. We looked into a couple agencies and found one with a private infant adoption and we are working with them now. Crazy thing is I just finally got a BFP! I really wasn't expecting anything of this last IUI and was so focused on the adoption process that I really hadn't thought of it. Until one morning I woke up not feeling well and decided to test for the heck of it, expecting to see a BFN, but I was wrong. I had both my beta's this week and all looks great. Can't wait to find out how many we're having.
Just wanted to post an update and wish good luck to everyone.View Thread
its been a while since my last post. i am 29 and was diagnosised at 19, I have never conceived and my worries on conceiving are only mounting. has any natural or home remedies aided anyone in the efforts to concieve, and how do u deal with the deppression?View Thread
So this was my first month using femara. Took it day 3-7 twice a day. Bloodwork done on day 3 everything looked good for blood work and ultra sound. Been taking ovulation tests since day 11 still have not ovulated and now on day 19. Was only suppose to test ovulation day 12-18. Anyone not ovulate using Femara? If so what was the reason? This week I was put on metformin since my glucose test was a little high. I had such high hopes that this drug would help in ovulation so to not ovulate has left me crushed. Would like to know if anyone didn't ovulate the first month but maybe the second month they did or what other reasons there could be for not ovulating.View Thread
Hi Pray, I've been thinking about you and wondering how you're doing? If I remember right the last time you gave an update you were saying that you had to take some time off due to scheduling? Just wondering if you've been able to start another round or are still waiting and how you're doing.View Thread
I know I haven't been present much lately but I wanted to share some exciting news... I finally had a BFP!!! It doesn't seem real though, I'm just waiting for AF to show herself and to have had a false positive result. I don't go to the dr until sep 13 so the suspense is killing me. Im worried abou continuing to take metformin but all the studies I've read talk about how it helps with reducing miscarriage. I feel like its been such a struggle that it's almost not even possible for a BFP to be true. Fingers crossed though.View Thread
Me (24)(PCOS) and DH (24) TTC our first for two years. Tried Metformin, Femara, Acupuncture, herbs, ovarian drilling... looking at other options.
Ok, so I guess I'm a little bit venting a little bit thinking out loud and curious what you think. After our last failed IVF we have been on a bit of a break waiting for my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to get done. Its been about a month and a half now of waiting. My surgery is Thursday. Anyways, I've really actually enjoyed the time off. My Dr. told me not to hold back and do anything I wanted. He said we've been through so much and I need to take this time for myself. Its been so nice not to have to worry about doing something too physical, or even have a glass of wine. My Dr. actually told me to drink. Its been almost 2 years of treatments and I haven't drank during that time. I've been doing everything I enjoy and not worried about the physical stress it could be having on me during treatments and its actually been wonderful. I love being active. I almost feel guilty that I'm enjoying the break this much. During this break I've actually been thinking a little more about adoption. When is it time to just move on? I feel so guilty for thinking that too. I'm just so tired of all the meds and all the treatments. I just want it to be over with, but I want a baby, my baby, more than anything in the world right now. I've even thought maybe we should start the adoption process while still trying to conceive our own. I asked my husband one day, how do we know when its time to move on? He told me we will move on when I say its time to move one. He knows how hard this is on me and doesn't want me to do anything I don't want to anymore. I guess deep down I don't feel like now is the time to give up on treatments and I'm hoping that when the time comes I will just KNOW and it will feel right. I just want a baby so badly. Seems like every one I know is pregnant or has children. Every time we go out with friends who have children I have to listen to them talk about their kids the entire time. Or hear about another friend who is pregnant and I'm just so sick of it. And I'm tired of feeling the way I do about it too. Hopefully after Thursday we'll have some answers and will know the best way to proceed. Also, sorry for the rambling.View Thread
I am 25 years old and my husband and I have been ttc for a year now. I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 months ago. My doctor put me on 2 months of birth control, followed by 3 months of metformin (50 mg once/day). I am still not pregnant, so my doctor recently wrote me a script for Clomid. I am suppose to start the Clomid on day 5 of my next cycle, while also taking the Metformin.
Have any of you been put on these medications, and if so, how successful was it?
It is becoming more and more difficult to be positive about ttc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.View Thread
I had my failed IVF consult today. It was much more than I thought it would be. As I knew before, my uterus is severely curved and makes it extremely difficult to do a transfer. The first thing my RE said when he came into the room was this last "transfer was a B!tch". I knew it had to be more difficult than normal because I was in a lot of pain and had some bleeding. Well blood and transfers are not a good combo. So before proceeding and wasting any more of our frozen embryos I have to have surgery. They'll be doing hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, he wants to see exactly what is going on in there and to see if there is anything causing my uterus to be so twisted. Depending on what he finds determines on how he'll do the next transfer, there are several different options. Some more pleasant than others... Another thing we discussed was that we got pregnant with twins using IUI and that actually may be best for us due to the uterus issues. We just have to see what he finds during surgery and then decide what would be best. He said we've been through too much and we need to make sure we go about this right because obviously we need to do something different. I think our RE is just as frustrated as we are. He said his goal is to get us pregnant with twins and be done. Ha. Now just waiting for the scheduler to call and let us know when the surgery will be.View Thread
I started BCP last night. If we stick to the same routine that we had last time I will be on BCP for 3 weeks, and then lupron injections for a month followed by embryo transfer hopefully sometime the end of August. I should get my exact transfer date next Monday. We've also decided to try acupuncture. I hope I'm not throwing money away but some of the studies are pretty convincing. Its best if you start before egg retrieval but even though we're past that the acupuncturist assured me it can still be of some assistance. I hope she's right and honest. Also, if we have to do another fresh cycle starting from the beginning I will already be seeing the acupuncturist and maybe it can help me there. So guess we just get started again and see how it all plays out.View Thread
I am a 38 1/4. I have just had my 5th cycle of clomid, and not pregnant. I had all of the evaluations. Dr decreased my dosage to 50mg for 3 days. I was a good responder, but no sucess. Dr told me that he feels good about my chances of conceiving, but did not recommend Insemmination. He wanted me to consider IVF. He claims that I have everything going for me for a 38 yr old but no success.
I know that I am a customer, then a patient. I really do not know if I will have any success with clomid with my advanced maternal age.
I am overweight, and I get sooo overheated anymore. I cant seem to cool off.
Has anybody had success with advanced maternal age using only clomid?
So I took clomid this month for the first time...100mg day 3-7. Im on CD 16 now..My Ovulation test said I O'd last tuesday. We have been having intercourse every other day since CD 10...2 days ago I started feeling really weird, dizzy light headed, nauseated, couldn't sleep. Just not like myself...Do you think its from Clomid?? Or is there a way you can feel pregnant this early?? I have never been pregnant before, so I don't really know how you feel, but its just wierd how I have been feeling?? Has anyone felt pregnant 2 days after ovulation?? I am thinking its from the clomid but just not sure....View Thread
Has anyone done or considered acupuncture? I'm starting to think about it. Its not something I really ever considered before now, but I'm willing to try anything at this point. Just not sure. I want to talk to my RE at my failed IVF consult in a couple of weeks but would like to hear if anyone else has experience with it. ThanksView Thread
