Hi, I am new to this bored- My sister was diagnosed with Type one diabetes Last September. She is 16. She has recently gained all the weight back that she had lost when she was 1st diagnosed due to being so sick. She also has VERY yellow callused feet, and I am wondering if this is something that is related to the diabetes itself or if this is stemming from somewhere else?
She is very good about checking her sugars and keeping them stable. However, she is really lacking in the area of exercise and nutrition. She had been in Volleyball but it is now done for the season. She does really well when involved in those sports as they push her to keep active. Now that winter is coming I worry that she is going to be putting on more weight and becoming less active. I have suggested to my mom that she start a gym of some sort and maybe get her to see a personal trainer ( as I think she will need motivation.) and also a nutritionist. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Also the yellow feet greatly concern me... TIA!View Thread
