Hi - I'm new I have been dealing w/ Type 1 diabetes for only about 8 months & am 29. my diagnosis at first was quite the rollercoaster. I was on Lantus (about 20 units) & Apidra at first, and needed to switch doctors to have one closer to home. Well first new doctor I saw just couldn't possibly believe that a 28 year old woman could come down with "Juvenile" diabetes and it could not possibly be type 1 - it must be type 2. In fact, at one point he said it didn't even matter what type it was. Ah! He gave me some oral medication that dropped my sugar so low I nearly passed out (it was in the low 30's at one point). I wish I had known better at first! I was lucky enough to land a great endocrinologist though and am already on an insulin pump I love the convenience of the pump and it's so much easier to control my bg with that instead of shots. I don't have anything interesting to say at the moment - just thought I'd tell a bit of my story and introduce myself
