I had a regularly scheduled eye exam today, but since I've been having extreme discomfort in my right eye the past week, my doctor went for that first. It's been uncomfortable, itchy, red, watering a lot, and oozing occasionally. He said it was a viral infection, and prescribed some anti-biotic/anti-inflammatory eye drops.
Now two questions for this, since I didn't think of them at the time and it's almost impossible to reach him over the phone: 1) I always thought anti-biotics had little-to-no effect on viruses. Will these drops help? and 2) I spent a great deal of time with my close friends who just had a baby last month. Is it safe to be around them while I have this, and what are the risks to the baby? Thanks very much!View Thread
