I did not get the water pill prescription (generic for Maxzide - 37.5 mg) until this past Tuesday and took it that evening when I got home - about 5PM. The following morning, I was slightly dizzy and nauseas; sort of felt groggy, too. I made an appointment with my doctor again, but it was with the husband this time (wife/husband practice - both family doctors). My BP that day was 148/76, which is high, but I was feeling horrible, too. He said he was very concerned I was feeling this way right after starting this water pill, but said that it was too high and decided to put me on a BP medicine (Lisinopril 5 mg) and to take immediately. I got the prescription filled that afternoon and took it when I got home. The very next day, Thursday, I felt even worse. I could not stand for more than 5-10 minutes without passing out, was dizzy, nauseas... everything 10X worse than the day before. That afternoon, I began vomitting profusely and ended up in the ER. They said I had an adverse reaction to the two new medicines and told me to stop them immediately. I was severely dehydrated and they gave me fluids + nausea medicine via IV. They took three BP readings while there, laying down was 112/52, sitting in reclined position was 113/49, and standing was 142/84. They told me to follow up with my doctor.
My doctor is closed on Thursday, which is why I went to the ER (plus I was scared with all of my symptons and how I felt). I called on Friday and they were supposed to relay my message to a nurse and receive a follow up call, but they never called me. My BP was around 152/88 that day and ended up in bed all day. Saturday was slightly better, but Sunday I started feeling closer to normal. Last night (Sunday), I felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest and could not get to sleep for at least 3 hours.
I had not taken the two new medicines since Thursday, but still do not feel normal. I put a call to my doctor office today and it was not a pleasant conversation. They knew last week I went to the ER and received a report, but did not call me or return my phone call (we live in a small town, population of 40,000 or less). I was aggravated at their lack of compassion and voiced that. They basically told me there was nothing they could do unless I came in to see them. I honestly cannot afford to miss more work (missed half of Wed, all Thurs, Fri, and Sat last week - no sick or personal time available yet); I asked what they would do if I came in. The RN (which is very rude) said they would take my BP reading and I could stop by w/o an appointment. I told her I was able to do that without coming and wanted more of an answer on what to do. She was very rude and said there was no way they could help me unless I came in. The ER did blood work and my doctors office has all the results - I asked if maybe I needed to quit taking both the medicines for a few weeks and then try one at a time. She was snippy and said if I wasn't going to come in for an appointment, then she guessed that's all I could do!
I need advise; how to proceed what options I should consider. I already told them to copy my chart and considering getting a new doctor. I just want to feel normal again - any questions or advice, please share. Thanks!

I am 51, gave viginal birth 18 years ago to twice boys. Had a hysterectomy 1994. In 2004 had a benign cyst on remnants of an ovary and fallopian tube that was removed.(So in short the 1994 hystetectomy was not complete) Had appendectomy in 2001. Here is my question. I have been having sharp pains on the lower left side of my pelvis. At first I thought it was stress related. I found 2 what feels to me to be golf balls masses on the inside of my viginal when I was taking a shower. They are not sore nor do they hurt. When I pushed on one, it felt like a dime size solid mass inside. The outside of the masses seems soft, but felt like the outside of a golf ball. I had sex with my husband, I had cramping and the sharp pain in my lower left side. Thanks, and any info I get would be great. I have made an appointment to see my family Dr. But is this is normal I don't want to waste her time when there are people that need her time and attention besides me. Thanks again.View Thread
I have a friend who I am really worried about. She's 30 years old, a mom to three young girls (ages 10, 7, and 4). The past six months have been bad; her husband was fired, turned out to be a complete fake, and he up and left her, moved to another part of the country. She was left to keep raising her three girls, while still working, and trying to sort out her life. Basically, it's been really stressful for her (as is expected). Despite being a chef and teaching her children solid nutritional values, my friend has dropped from 135 pounds to 100 pounds, from November 2010 to yesterday's informal weigh-in. She's finally starting to see that she's really skinny (Easter photos were just developed), but she's just not eating enough. I don't think she's intentionally trying to lose weight (I think it's stress), but she has admitted that she doesn't exactly want to gain all that weight back.
What do I do? I can't exactly talk to a teacher or counselor. I mean, she's 30 years old! I'm worried about her, but I'm also worried about her kids; her eldest daughter is healthy, but her body shape isn't skinny-skinny, and when I hear her mom reply to someone, "Oh, I'm not that skinny," I cringe, wondering what her daughter must think about herself...
I don't know..I'm kind of at a loss here. She is waving this off, as if it's no big deal, but she does get worried as she's seeing the scale number go lower. She told me once that if she hit 99 pounds, she'd have to go to the hospital. But knowing her, she wouldn't go even if she did hit it; she's got it stuck in her head that she can't stop taking care of everyone else to focus on herself....
*sighs* I apologize for the rambling. I'm just worried about her and I don't know what to do. When it comes to anorexia, what are the feeding plans? If she simply increases her food intake--regardless of how "full" she feels---will it help raise her weight or just crash her system?
I'm panicking, I suppose; her rent is up after June, and her only option right now is to move back home, to the midst of a very dysfunctional family, and I know her health will only get worse.
I would know what to do if this concerned a teenager like myself...but what am I supposed to do when it's a single 30 year-old mother with three children, a job, and apparently no options?

I got the Depo Provera shot on March 10th. I was tested for pregnancy before and it was negative. All was fine until around April 6th when I started bleeding. It happened after intercourse (coincidentally or not) along with intense pain I also had. Pain was gone by morning, however, the bleeding had not. I had it for 3-4 weeks. Currently I do not have health insurance and still have a bill I must pay off. So I called the doctor at 2 weeks, they said irregular bleeding with the shot was normal and weren't concerned. Called again at 3 weeks and they said the same thing. Now, I will list the symptoms that have me going "Hmm" and I'd just like to be sure there isn't anything dire I should be concerned of.
Symptoms:
-Dizzyness
-Lightheaded
-Very tired
-Shortness of breath (with movement, whether small or a lot)
-Inability to feel heat very well. For this one, I must provide an example. Spent a weekend in a larger city with my boyfriend in a hotel. I'd taken a shower with what I'd thought to be a relatively comfortable temperature. However, after the shower I'd noticed that my feet were grey, my face was red, I was dizzy and lightheaded, and I was very warm. My boyfriend felt very cold in comparison, which is the opposite role. I didn't even know the water was that hot. It is the same for the use of my heating blanket that I use at night because of the temperature in my room. Normally I use 5-6 on the dial, but lately have been using 8-9 because I just can't feel my blanket being warm. Most cases I wonder if its on because I can't feel it but it always has been on.
-I have also had this circular spot/rash on the inside of my right elbow. I don't usually notice it, however, I do when I scrunch up the sleeves of my hoodie. In which case, it irritates the spot. It looks similar to when someone bruises after a shot, though I have had none in awhile there.
-During the bleeding, what looked like a strip of flesh, came out with the blood as well.
-Have also had some chest pains but that I believe to be normal as I get anxiety attacks when I am stressed.
Any thoughts on this? Just trying to figure out if its anything I need to worry over or if there may be some remedies I could try to get myself better as I cannot afford a doctor visit. Some additional information. These symptoms started to appear the 16th of April. At the time I was still bleeding, although as of yesterday 4/23 the bleeding has stopped. There is still a drop or two every now and again so far, but that is it. Is it possible I got anemic due to the blood loss?View Thread
