What's Happening Now

Still kept most of it off. 4 months later now and I want to lose more but couldn't affort $800. I researched and tried a few that made me sick the found HCG Activator by BioGenetic which works VERY close to the injections.
You have to understand that the HCG forces your body to use the excess calories in your body and burns about 1400 calories per day so your body thinks you're eating more than the 500 calories a day. That's why you don't feel the 500 drop.
This was my last resort before surgery and I'm so glad I did. Follow the instructions; don't stay on them longer than recommended or you will get resistent to them. My doc advised not to restart for at least 6 weeks.
One more note. I only lost 20 lbs the first time because I put ketsup on my burger patti, ate taco salad, added Mio to my water, marinated my chicked and beef. It was worthwhile though because I finished the diet. I figured out to have apple mid morning (breakfast) w/iced tea). Late lunch with a meat and veggie, mid-afternoon recommended breadstick with a Powerade Zero, meat & small salad for dinner, and fruit & breadstick for snack later and ALWAYS had sugar-free Jello (made with 1 cup less water so it felt more solid going down) to fill in.
It really works and I was amazed at the natural energy I have when I'm on it.View Thread

Over the counter HCG isn't available in the US anymore because the FSA banned it. So if you get something marketed in the US as HCG, or like HCG, it's probably fake - just a friendly warning.View Thread

The first part is making sure you are getting good nutrition. IF you body is getting what it needs (less junk food, some healthy fats, good fiber, protein, etc) you will have easier cravings and your brain will work better, improving your mood.
The second part is being active in the right ways. If you get a lot of cardio already, add some weight training. Muscle burns 6 calories a pound per day, while fat burns 2. It also helps your bone density. Plus, it really helps your stress level! Exercise can be fit in all over the place - hefting grocery bags, a few wall pushups while waiting for the microwave, etc. Also drink lots of water.
The third part is getting to the root of where your stress comes from. Eliminating unneeded things, saying no to others when you are already full up with activities, a few minutes of meditation here and there, listening to a favorite song for a couple of minutes instead of going for a snack, journaling to relieve stress, all those are possibilities.
The solution is complex, but it doesn't have to be hard or all at once.View Thread

Looking to see 150 again. This is the day the Lord has made rejoice and be glad in it.

Looking to see 150 again. This is the day the Lord has made rejoice and be glad in it.

This is a lifelong journey. Focus on getting good amounts of nutrients in your foods - eat colorful fruits and vegetables, eat things with a variety of spices in them, herbs, hot peppers if you can stand them, get protein, and move. If your legs aren't so good, do wall pushups, heft food cans, get in the water. Just find ways to move. Work on that upper body strength - exercise bands are great, too! Muscle burns three times as many calories as fat, and gives you the strength to get around while you are healing.
Also, no more secrets. Secret dieting is as bad as secret snacking. You are doing something to make yourself healthy. There's no shame in it.View Thread

I've heard it said that your inner self never hears negative modifiers, so you say 'I'm not going to eat ice cream," it thinks "I'm going to eat ice cream," for example. I don't know how true that is but I've been playing with the idea as a way of reframing my weight loss journey to be more positive.
For example, instead of focusing on losing weight, it might be helpful to think about how you are growing stronger. Instead of thinking about all the cookies you can't have, you could think about how much better your body feels eating fresh fruit.
It's so easy to be discouraged when the scale isn't moving. But there are so many little wins you can focus on, when it comes to becoming healthier. There's reduced pain, increased flexibility, increased strength, clothes fitting better, the nutrient rush from a healthy meal, the sense of accomplishment from taking care of yourself. This fitness journey isn't about loss, it's about winning!View Thread

Set Goals - Know Why You Want It
There are two kinds of goals that are important - a big goal and many small ones. Your big goal is your vision. It's what keeps you moving. It's something you need to really, really want, because it is going to remind you of why you are doing all this, at times when you're low and cravings are kicking your butt. For example, my big goal is that I want to be 150 pounds by age 40. I have 3 years to do it in. I have about 75 pounds to lose. I want to be fit, strong, able to bench a fair amount, and have awesome shoulders and arms. That's the vision that keeps me going. Maybe your goal is a marathon, or to hike the Appalachian Trail.
Your small goals are critical too, they are the stepping stones that will get you to your big goal. For example, you might say "I will lose two pounds in two weeks." Or "I will walk around the block without getting out of breath." Every time you meet a goal, give yourself a pat on the back - that success will help you go farther.
Stay Positive - Focus on the Journey
If you can be mindful of all the little things there are to love about being healthy, and being on this journey, you will be more likely to continue. Even though weight can be slow to come off, there are a million good things that happen between each one pound mark. If you made a really tasty salad, savor every bite. If you feel good after walking, take a moment to enjoy it. If you feel your abs tighten more than usual, or notice a little more strength, celebrate it! Really focus on the good times.
If you learn to appreciate the process and each tiny victory, the lifelong changes you need to make will have a better chance to take hold.
Make it Easy for Yourself
The more convenient you can make your healthy habits, and the more inconvenient you can make your unhealthy ones, the better. So make sure your walking shoes are by the door, make sure you keep junk food out of the house, prepare healthy lunches on the weekend ahead of time, keep vegetables and nuts or whatever you want to use for snacks at hand. Where you can, buy colorful, appealing foods that attract the eye. Find exercise that you really enjoy, or at least that is tolerable. For instance, I like weight lifting so I do that more than I'll run on a treadmill. Keep reminders of your goal around you, such as pictures of that race you want to run, or that trail you want to hike, or that bike you will buy when you meet your goal.
If you take a moment to make your healthy snacks and healthy activities more convenient, you will be less likely to grab junk food as you hurry to work.View Thread

I'm eating less calories, more protein, less junk, and I'm moving more. It still seems like I'm expanding. Then gain, I know I have to give it time. It's a little irritating though, because I already have a hard enough time losing!
Okay, grump over.View Thread

Shortly BEFORE the New Year I started on a new program of eating less junk so that I can save up for a better place to live. I mentioned that in another post already so I won't go into detail.
Anyway, I'm using that for a New Year Resolution. Maybe since I started out early, it'll stick better.View Thread

Roh, your idea sounds like fun. I hope you go for it!View Thread

I may be moving. We're just getting tired of living in a tiny little one bedroom second floor walkup. Now, the stairs don't really bother me and I love my view of the mountains, but at the same time I'd like to get into a bigger place with more room for doing art and whatever other projects we might have.
I'm still with my gal, and things are going pretty well there. But it would be really nice to have a decent patio and live in a better neighborhood. The spot I have my eye on (I may not get in but I'd love to) actually is bigger but costs a little less every month. But since that deposit is such a bear, I want to start saving right now and see what I can squeeze of the budget. Not buying snacks does good things for my waistline as well as my savings goals.
So I think a bigger goal like this could be the ticket to getting back on track. Otherwise, the nebulous goal of feeling better later doesn't usually outweigh the desire for a feelings-salving, tasty bit of empty calories now.View Thread

My mom used to always mix her egg nog with Sprite or 7-up, because it was too rich for her. It occurred to me that you could do the same thing with lemon-lime Zevia, or another Stevia flavored lemon-lime soda, for the same effect. I refuse to drink low calorie egg nog, but I suppose you could try that too.
You could add seltzer water to normal punches and juices to stretch them a bit, lower the calories, and add a little sparkle.
You could substitute in almond flour in cookies for great taste and more nutrition.
You could have a pretty platter of fruits in holiday colors along with other stuff, it's amazing how welcome the taste of fruits and vegetables is among heavy holiday food.
Speaking of parties, eat before you go - it'll help you avoid over indulging.
If you do have something that's really high in fat and sugar, make sure you don't nibble while you're talking or doing something else. Really pay attention to what you are eating and get every last calorie out of it in value. There are a couple of studies showing that people who eat mindfully eat less and enjoy more.
Some things we traditionally eat can be improved by being careful of the ingredients.
Anyone else?View Thread
